KeeperFX is an open-source remake and fan expansion of Dungeon Keeper.

 

The main goal of KeeperFX is to preserve and expand upon the original Dungeon Keeper experience, offering many new features, improvements, and much more while staying true to the original feeling of the game. You can delve into the original campaign and deeper dungeons, or enjoy levels and campaigns created by the community.  There are an additional 13 bundled campaigns and 2 bundled map packs and many more to download from the Workshop.

The way you remember DK

I'd attempted to play dungeon keeper 1 before this mod and ended up moving onto 2, alongside DK's descendants mostly due to its limited readability. While graphics weren't a huge concern of mine the low resolution was kind of a deal breaker in terms of long term commitment. The new quality of life changes, content and everything else Keeper FX offers is exactly the sort of mirror-sheen polish that I'd recommend to people curious about this old gem.

Nostalgia.

I remember my dad buying a pc (Compaq presario) in 1998 when i was only 14 and this came bundled with it. I used to sprint home from school just to get on it and play this game. I spent so long playing this game and after all this time i still play it fairly regularly and im now 41. Fun fact: The narrator / disembodied voice in this is still voice acting... as peppa pigs dad.

KeeperFX is the only way to play DK.

Been playing the mod for years, glad to see it on GOG - hoping for a fresh update soon as last one was in 2024, but the nightly updates have been consistent and promising to a fresh version. Hoping networking gets improved and solidified to the point where the online experience is effortless and I can play with my buddies without crashes/desyncs
