Never thought I'd fall for a vampire survivor clone but there ya go. I love all the details added to thegame which makes me feel like Jackie Chan from his classic movies. Definitely buy this if you are considering anything from the sub genere it is a top notch game!!!
Game Review: A Nostalgic Dive into the 80s Retro World
If you're on the hunt for a game that blends the perfect mix of fun, addiction, and nostalgia, this is it. From the moment you start, you're plunged into an 80s retro wonderland, complete with pixel art graphics and a soundtrack that transports you back to the days of arcade glory.
The gameplay revolves around a classic yet captivating mechanic: collecting items to upgrade your skills and attributes. It's a familiar formula, but this game executes it brilliantly, keeping you hooked as you strive to enhance your character and unlock new abilities. Every session feels rewarding, with a steady progression that makes time fly by—before you know it, hours have passed.
One of the standout features is the game's 80s aesthetic. The vibrant colors, nostalgic sound effects, and retro-inspired music create an immersive experience that captures the essence of a bygone era. The soundtrack is particularly noteworthy, with tracks that are not just background noise, but integral to the overall ambiance, making every action feel epic.
In summary, this game is a perfect escape for anyone looking to revisit the charm of the 80s while enjoying modern gaming mechanics. Its addictive nature and time-flying quality make it a must-play for both retro enthusiasts and new players alike.
A very fun spin on the Vampire Survivors formula. I've been enjoying it, but feel like there's definitely room for improvement.
As far as I know, there's only one playable character (a Jackie Chan-esque hero). Maybe that's the developers intention, instead of unlocking characters you unlock more moves... but I feel that in a big grand ode to 80's and 90's action/kung fu movies... variety of playable characters is a must.
Maybe they intend to? But either way, I'm enjoying this game.
Highly recommend
As a fan of this type of games I absolutely love Karate Survivors. Both gameplay and aesthetic makes for a great experience of playing it. It's like a modern love letter to 80' fighting movies. There's one major flaw though - game is really badly optimised as for graphic it offers. I've been playing Beaufitul Mystic Survivors recently and much more demanding graphic it ran smooth even with whole screen full of enemies. Here such scenario results with insane fps drops, despite cpu and gpu stay cool and silent. I hope it will be adressed in some patch sooner or later because for now tere are moments when game becomes barely playable due to such fps drops. That's why for now I give it 4 stars but it could be 5 easily without this issue.
