Jusant is a brand-new action-puzzle climbing game and a meditative journey to the top of a tall tower. Challenge yourself at your own pace, explore different paths, and unravel the secrets from a bygone civilization.
Master your climbing tools and watch your stamina meter to successfully navigate this mysterious and changing tower. As you go higher and hone your skills, you’ll have to figure out how best to use the tools at your disposal to get to where you want to go. Explore alternative paths to find clues about what happened here.
Play at your own pace. As you climb, you’ll come across breathtaking biomes full of flora and fauna, accompanied by a peaceful and atmospheric soundtrack. Brace yourself on arid, windy slopes, seek refuge in tunnels lit only by bioluminescence, and more.
Meet the mysterious Ballast. This creature will help guide you throughout your journey by waking nature along your path and helping to reveal clues that will help you piece together the tower’s past and reach the top.
There is just something satisfying with rock climbing in a post apocaliptic world. Graphics are cool, you get a real sense of height. The scenery is well done along with the sounds and music. If you are into games where you can just chill and enjoy the sights, this is a game for you. Recommended.
The climbing mechanics are surprisingly advanced, fun and simple to use at the same time. I would love to see another game where they are used their full potential to create tricky puzzles because the routes in the game are on the easy side.
Jusant is a peaceful game about exploration. There are no enemies. Even gravity isn't much of a threat; surprisingly for a game about climbing. You can't die. You play as an un-named person who is climbing a giant stone tower rising from the desert. As you ascend, you move through various abandoned sections of civilization that used to call this tower home, and piece together the story of a long drought and the reseeding waters that resulted from that.
Pros:
-It ran fantastic on my aging hardware (Ryzen 7 3800, Nvidia 3070)
-Stylized graphics that add a charming touch.
-Nice musical score
-21:9 support in all but the cutscenes.
-Short and sweet.
-Interesting climbing mechanics
Cons:
-Linear progression
-I got stuck on object geometry on several occasions.
-Some of the letters that tell the story are difficult to find.
-The last two levels are fairly short.
Overall, it took me 6 hours over two play sessions to beat, and I think that that's about perfect for this kind of game. It doesn't wear out its welcome but also didn't make me feel like I wasted my money on something too short. The "game" part is obviously the climbing mechanics but I enjoyed the exploration side of it more, walking around the various areas and piecing together what that particular place was all about. There's a lot of visual storytelling going on. The ending, well, that's up for your interpretation. Some find it extremely poignant and moving, while others I've talked to thought that it was too vague. I guess that I'm somewhere between the two; finding it neither stunning nor wasteful but wishing that more would have been explained.
Overall, if you have a few dollars (or your regional equivalent) and a few hours, this is a nice, peaceful, stress-free way to spend it.
Jusant tells a great story through environment and notes. The long lonely climb up the tower gives you time to think and take in the scenery. The ending is a fitting emotional payoff for such a long climb.
Not the exact type of game for me... I'm not a huge fan of the "chill and relaxing" games, like Abzu and Journey. I played them, and enjoyed them, but not to the extent some (most, I feel like) people liked them.
Anyway, the game is good, the graphics are great, and the music is a success as it really completes the atmosphere.
However, the gameplay was too minimalist for me, and the "rock bugs" were clearly my ennemies. I got stuck in collision too many times (and had to jump to try and reset myself). Also, the camera (and I, once) got stuck at out of bouds at some points, which was really annoying.
The collectibles were too numerous in my opinion, but, at least, the game tells you in which chapter they are located.
A lot of negatives, but, overall, a good game. I'm just not the real target audience for this game.
