Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death

I just bought this game but i used to own it on X-Box and thought it was one of the best budget titles on that console. If you want the prettiest shooter then go buy a game like Crysis. I realise more and more that while most modern games are graphically impressive, they just arent that fun. In a FPS you need good controls, and satisfying weapons that look and sound leathal. Judge Dredd has these...(think Goldeneye and you will remember what it was like to pick up a gun that looked and sounded great - and that was back in 1996!!! Or you could play Halo 3 and try and kill your enemy with an underpowered rifle that sounds like a sewing machine..you decide creep.)... Satisfying missions and enemies to dispatch..sure it isnt perfect but i gave it a 5 out of 5 just to balance out some harsh reviews and bring its average up to where it should be. Hell..a zombie rampage in a mall and a shotgun in hand...I AM THE LAW!

This game was definitely made to play with friends and family. My brother and I had a blast in the co-op arresting people for arbitrary reasons such as "Possession of a hamster without a license". This game is best played on the hard difficulty otherwise the game goes by too fast and you will wonder why you bought a short game but even on hard it's pretty easy. Arcade mode was a nice touch added but I don't believe it has a co-op mode like the story does so I haven't bothered with it much. Multiplayer is really great although I wish the shotgun did it's job and killed people point blank. Most maps in multiplayer follow through with the mechanics but some do feel like they were just a mish-mash of the story maps.

I've played many FPS titles over the years, but this one has to be one of the worst. The game feels clunky, modern and unresponsive. The enemies are not fun to kill, and the weapons are not exciting enough to enjoy using. The overall design of the game is just like blaahh... it's almost as if this game was made by fans making an unprofessional game mod for quake 2 or something. But if you like shooting down hoards of unconvincing looking baddies with a pea shooter, then this is your game. Honestly, I could not play past the first several stages, it became so boring.

The game is short and shows its age in some regards, but it is a fun exploration of the Dredd universe. Its definitely worth playing if you are a fan of the franchise, or are looking for a casual retro shooter.
