The Journeyman Project 1: Pegasus Prime

The most time agent game of the 3 where you feel more like a time agent. I wish they stuck to this formula in the following games. The best story of the 3 and the best gameplay of the 3. It only goes downhill after this. So, its the only game I recommend. I do not at all recommend the 2nd and 3rd games (the boring and tedious there reaches bottom). This game does have tedious parts though. But, if you want to play one, this is it.

I played the original Journeyman Project when it first came, out on my Packard Bell computer running Windows 95. On the CD came a trailer for Pegasus Prime. "How cool this looks! How much more interactive! Real people!" I thought. Then I found out it was just for Playstation. Disappointment followed. Time passes, and the years pass, and every once in a while I consider buying a Playstation and looking for Pegasus Prime. One day, I think, one day. Then, it arrives on GOG. Finally, after 15 years, I get to play this. The game is excellent, more interactive, more interesting. Now I get to pilot the sub underwater, explore the prehistoric past, and see the future unfold with live actors. One area that has been particularly updated is the scientific conference, which in the original once you knew what to do only took a few minutes. If you played the original, or are just interested in puzzle games, a la Myst, this is for you.

I appreciate that this has all the content added to it that was in the Playstation version of the game and was missing from the original PC release as well as Turbo. On the other hand, I'm not sure that the extra stuff really improves the game. Either that, or I'm just nostalgic. Still, though, the acting seems really hammy, and some of the extra puzzles just feel like busywork. This is still a fun game, though.

A 3D point and click adventure that captures alot of what makes the genre both good and bad. There are moments where you will definately be stuck if you are choosing to play the game blind but many of the puzzles are fairly easy to solve. SAVE OFTEN. While the game does have a continue option it is best practice to save often or risk being stuck. Overall I had a decent fun time and makes me excited to get to part 3 which I remember playing as a kid and being memorized by it. If you enjoy Myst and other such games you might enjoy this one and is a quick game to get through.

The 90s where a period of trying out new stuff, and ideas, Journeyman is one of them.
