Jill of the Jungle: The Complete Trilogy

The gorgeous music has stuck with me for decades, the visuals and environments were incredible back in the day, and still striking today, the sound effects were and are a case of 'what were they thinking?' but you quickly get used to them. The gameplay is kind of love-it-or-hate-it. Precise jumping and hitting things with the knives and not breaking the wrong blocks with the spinners might take practice. You go, Mr. Sweeney.

Is really good once you get the controls

This was one of the first games I remember playing back in 1993, and I must have beaten the first episode a million times! (We only had the first one on floppy disk). I can't wait to finally beat the rest!

The platforming is bad. It's really imprecise and the hard landings after every single jump completely kill any momentum. Combat is pretty bad too, although i enjoyed the frogs chasing you. Level design is really bad, lots of places where falling down makes you redo too much of the level. On the plus side, the boomerang-dagger is fun the few times it does work and i enjoyed the goofy elevators. Seriously though, don't bother with this, it compares poorly even to contemporary or older platformers like Prince of Persia or Super Mario.
