The smoke is clearing and the bullets have stopped flying. Arulco is free at last, but your job's not over. An all-powerful corporation is assaulting the tiny country and, once again, you are needed!
Enter a whole new chapter of the critically acclaimed Jagged Alliance 2 with new weapons (10 new ones including models of sniper and assault rifles), new mercenaries (10 new characters), new terrain (including snow), an Iron Man mode and the fantastic new Mission Builder!
Gear up - you have got some Unfinished Business to take care of!
Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business is a standalone game that can be played without Jagged Alliance 2. You can import your character from Jagged Alliance 2. The game also comes with the campaign editor.
Fantastic, addictive turn-based tactical gameplay with some role-playing elements
Tons of authentic weapons and equipment, complete with descriptions
An additional scenario plus a campaign editor to quell your hunger for more Jagged Alliance
JA2 was one of my first gaming experiences and it is still one of the best games out there. JA2:UB is (in my opinion) the best balanced game of the whole series. Well it is rather short but it really kicks ass if you like strategy games and hate first person shoot-em-up stuff.
Playing it on my Vista PC really makes me happy. I tried to get the gold version working but I had no chance without the old original UB disk. Unfortunately that disk broke yeeeeeaaaars ago.
...and then I found gog.com and a "Vista-ready" downloadable version of one of my all time favourite games.
I've heard some mixed reviews from people on this game. Mostly positive. Now, I have been playing this game since all the way back in the DOS days with Deadly Games. Jagged Alliance 2 was a huge improvement over the original. So much detail and nuance was added to the game engine. I always thought it was sad that there was no campaign editor or continuation of the series after that...or so I thought. Now, many fans are aware of the two sided story between the Russian game company and Sirtech. Sirtech was very disappointed with Wildfire to say the least. This new addition, Unfinished Business, I didn't even hear about! When I replayed JA2, I found this game.
The game itself is a worthy addition to the series. Exactly what I wanted. More JA2. However, it's not just more JA2. They put all kinds of new guns in this game. The most satisfying of which is a Barret .50 M82A2 Sniper rifle. Man, I love that gun! At first, the game seems like it is going to be very, very short. Instead, it's deceptively long compared with what you initially think. In fact, the game is very surprising. You get a JA1 style "Mickey the arms dealer" type of deal once you get into town(If you can...it's really hard to start this mission!). The arms dealer is not nearly as endearing as the venerable IRA style Mickey. The main challenge I found in this game was medical kits and healing up. I found it was necessary to use a medic with better fighting abilities to survive. This was Thor.
Anyway, overall, I would say this game is VERY worth playing. Especially if you love JA2. Normally, I don't like turn based combat games like this. Sirtech definitely did something cool and unique. Playing this even in 2021 it holds up as a great game! Goes to show you that a good game will almost always be good.
Game is still as great as it was years ago. Haven't seen any bugs or problems yet. Works perfectly on Aspire One netbook, even when underclocked to 800 MHz. There's just one downside... it's still helluva addicting game.
SirTech rushed this out, due to financial problems which shut them down soon after.
It's short, hard, not well-balanced, and the hurry shows.
JA is an awesome franchise, but has been a mess since JA2. Hopefully, JA: Flashback returns the series to glory.
If you've never played JA and have any interest in strategy games, you absolutely must.
JA Deadly Games is the best
JA2 has better graphics and more options, but gets slowed down with a lot of fiddliness.
JA is still not bad, if you can tolerate really dated graphics and UI.
Unfinished Business? Totally forgettable. Tolerable for a few bucks, if you're really desperate for a new mission.
