iTtle Dew has it's share of questionable decisions; It offers freedom at the expense of proper structure and a solid difficulty curve but the cleverly designed puzzles, lovely art style and a biting sense of humour more than make up for it. Once I started playing, I couldn't stop before I solved all the rooms and defeated the final boss. Wholeheartedly recommended.
Controls in this are absolutely abysmal if you use a keyboard. Gave up after 15 minutes. The game looks fun, the graphics are beautiful but, if you can't play it (I still haven't figured out how to pick anything up!) it's pointless and a waste of money.
Ittle Dew (it will do)
... many ppl mistaken this for Zelda- straight forward IT IS NOT!
"Oh how comes, did you even played it!?" - "Sadly, yes, till finish, to see if it has any worth..."
"So ... would you care to explain?" - "*sigh* if you insist..."
Gameplay:
You come into a few 1 room caves and a castle with 3 dozen box pushing puzzles and that's it.
There is an lousy 1 button mash fighting system, which you can use on like 2 or 3 enemy types... there is no (real) story or exploration... nothing creative to see.... you can beat it about 2hrs... no secrets - no NOTHING.
The gameplay value is poor as you can get. Even the oldest games i can think of, have more depth to it than this... (old= PacMan, Pong, ...)
Graphics:
So why does ppl praise it than? - Simple: Because of its graphic style - they are nostalgic towards Zelda. That's it. Nothing else. They just see the pictures and think "that's Zelda (like)" -oh they just don't know any better.
Can you base a game around its pure style than? ... Hack no.
The first minutes you think to your self "really nice comic look" ... but after 20 Minutes you realize... that'ts it. You walk trough woods and the mentioned castle... hand full of caves... everything looks the same.
Variety:
-Are there desserts? No. Ice Mountains? No. Waterlevels? No. Rock plateau? No. Swamps? No. Mysterious Magic Worlds? No!
-Are there any other puzzles than box pushing? No.
-Are there interesting characters to talk to? No.
-Are there like 30+ different items to use / combine? No.
Sound:
Nothing which stuck in my mind. Damn - everyone who grew up in the "(s)NES" age still can hum Zelda themes.... most popular soundtrack of all time.
Would i remember just 1 note from this game, while threatened by death if i don't? ....... *R I P*
Story:
Okay, Zelda was quiet simple: Mean guy, Princess, Kingdom, Hero - gg.
What you got here... Hero.... kinda ... but not really mean guy.... a castle? ....
Final verdict:
Buy "Shipwreck" or Original Zelda
The combat is just horrible and as an extra insult it's pointless, the puzzles or level layout just doesn't work, the secrets are either boring or annoing to find and they are also useless, there are no cool items to find or use, no fun skills to gain or hone, the story isn't interesting, and the jokes arn't funny.
The game just isn't any fun at all. Don't waste you money on this.
