ISLANDERS is a minimalist strategy game about building cities on colorful islands. Explore an infinite number of ever-changing new lands, expand your settlements from sprawling villages to vast cities and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.
If you’re thinking about buying ISLANDERS please keep in mind that we are a very passionate but small team of three. This is not a blockbuster experience with hours and hours of content. What we’d like to offer you is a simple game that lets anybody create and explore their own little worlds, while providing enough depth for players who want to challenge themselves. The gameplay of ISLANDERS is pretty intuitive. You start with a set of buildings in your inventory that you can place on your island. Placing buildings is rewarded with points. The amount of points you get depends on what surrounds the buildings when you place them. Gather enough points to refill your inventory and unlock new buildings.
Once your city is big enough you may choose to travel to the next island (they are generated procedurally, so you can literally keep exploring forever). If you run out of buildings the game ends. This is where you high five yourself for beating the high score, take a proud last glance at the epic city you've built and start just one more round...

I've been looking for other games like Dorfromantik, and this is certainly similar as far as the chill gameplay goes, but it's not as satisfying to me personally. I played a few times to see if it would "click" for me, but it's not really what I'm looking for right now. However, it was definitely worth the cost I bought it at on sale, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing puzzle game.
The game consists of placing certains models that are assigned a base point value and increase or decrease in value depending on where they are placed. The points build up to a certain threshold so you can move to the next island. Very simple game, but very frustrating when you lose after hours of playing.
This is a little gem. A puzzle game that is easy to get into, but as you progress start realizing that with some luck and preplanning you can develop interesting strategies
The graphics are clean, soft and very nice to the eye. Music calm and pleasing. I gave 4/5 becauce I would love even more variations of maps since I managed to get a few very similar ones time and time again. Other than that I can only long for a DLC or two and hope that it gets the appreciation it deserves.
I'd reccommend this to anyone who likes games like Age of empires II but don't want to do warfare and speed up the direct reward of resorces :)
This game took away my anxiety / depression.
Toggle some presets to generate a type of island across multiple types of biomes and climates (desert / rocky / rainy / snowy) and build away.
Build your island the way you want it and save it.
Move on and build the next island.
Get it on sale and de-stress at the end of a long day of work. I've tried FPS, strategy, racing etc., and while this is certainly not as exciting as those, this has no potential of making your day worse.
