Multiplayer notice: The DRM free version of Ironclad Tactics Deluxe Edition is single-player only.
Ironclad Tactics is a fast-paced, card-based tactics game set in an alternate history Civil War - with steam-powered military robots!
The Deluxe Edition includes:
- The Rise of Dmitry, the first add-on campaign for Ironclad Tactics. Explore the backstory of Dmitry, and unlock his fearsome army by completing new missions against new foes. Also included is the "Fort Phantom Ridge" gauntlet mission, a six-stage battle set in Dmitry's greatest factory-fort.
- Blood and Ironclads, the add-on campaign for Ironclad Tactics about the Franco-Prussian war... with ironclads!
- A high-quality digital artbook with concept art, designs, and commentary from the Zachtronics team.
- A printable papercraft model of an ironclad that you can print out and assemble.
- The Ironclad Tactics OST, with music by Evan Le Ny and Farewell to the Woods.
Experience unique gameplay, with rapid, simultaneous turns that blend the precision of tactics and card games with the spontaneity of fast-paced strategy games.
Follow the campaign story through a fully-illustrated, character-driven interactive graphic novel.
Collect cards as you play through the campaign and build your own decks to crush your foes.
No microtransactions! Unlock cards by playing the game, not by purchasing them separately.
Very short game, but decent enough gameplay. The graphic novel style of presenting the story is oddly contrasted by the profound genericness of said story.
emulate battletech from snes(?) instead....this game has same battle mechanic, stripped of all the tactics, charm and the cool story
another game that substitutes frustrating mechanics for the strategic depth you wanted.
a pause button would be cool on a turn-based game.
you want to like it for a bunch of style and story reasons, and yet it just has some bad design in the mechanics that make it not fun.
everything else has already been said but this maybe:
imagine making a game with 40-50 different cards and abilities then adding a mechanism to make sure you can't use them all to make varied synergies together...oops who thought that was a good idea.
now imagine making a mechanism so the ai has constant a growth advantage, so you need to get off to just the right start to have a chance, then not letting you pick your opening hand, so now restarting levels 20 times until you get what you need is a staple mechanic.
carefully waited 10 minutes to get the energy to deploy just the right crew, then get beat repeatedly by spammed out cheese mechs that only are challenging because you can't match the production rate...yup plenty of that.
pass
Puns aside this was a great purchase. Lots of content. (Main Story plus expansions) Challenges and puzzles. Top notch art. Great comic style movies. And fun, frantic, challenging game play.
