Imperial Glory

Loved this game growing up, so happy GoG has it. Much better than TW:Empire, but obviously done on a smaller budget. Much better trade and diplomacy systems, Simple but intuitive UI, and the battle system is very similar to Empire. It is a clone, but it's a very good one.

Imperial Glory has some to offer, though not much. The campaign mode, while not very deep, is still pretty fun, and it has some interesting dynamics, such as forming squadrons or establishing trade routes. This is where the entertainment ends. From a gameplay standpoint, the fights tend to be very lop sided and provide few avenues for actual tactics. Militia can soundly annihilate any infantry unit just with a charge, for example. Formations, volleys, these are not really well integrated. In some ways it has a number of problems that Empire Total War had with its combat balancing, though perhaps more with it's poor formation system. The combat on sea is somewhat better than land engagements, though the land fights are quite broken.

originally I had a downloaded copy of Imperial Glory(due to no one selling it) but when I saw it on GOG, I HAD to buy it, like all games I download I usually purchase them if a legitimate place sells it, anyway into Imperial Glory. I LOVE IT, that's all I can say about it, it was Napoleon Total War before Napoleon Total War.

It had the potential to be an actual competitor to the Total War series, but the constant crashes with practically every single battle and then a few extra crashes thrown in make this essentially unplayable. I've tried a handful of times to get it to work, because I have been able to play just enough to want to play more. I can't understand how a program that doesn't even work has this high a rating. Avoid this, buy something you can play instead.
