Description
Immortal Redneck is an FPS set in Egypt with rogue-lite elements. The game mixes old-school first-person shooter action with a rogue-lite mechanics. Frantic gameplay, twitch controls and an arcade-style feel meet randomly generated dungeons, a complete skill tree, permanent death and 9 classes with different traits.

The game revolves around a redneck tourist who wakes up mummified in ancient Egypt after an accident. Why is he here? How did he survive the accident? And why the hell is he mummified?!

The answer lies within the three danger-filled pyramids of Giza, all protected by an army of monsters and huge bosses. Obviously, your mission is to get inside the pyramids, kill all the enemies and discover what's going on!

  • Old School FPS: frantic gameplay, twitch controls and an arcade-style
  • RogueLite mechanics: randomly generated dungeons, classes, skills, permanent death but with gameplay progression
  • Nine playable classes: all with different skill sets. Players can switch classes between each play through, selecting the one most suitable for their current run
  • Complete skill tree: evolve your character, buying equipment and weapons, upgrading and acquiring new skills
  • Over 50 different weapons: traditional firearms, magical, mythological, futuristic or just plain weird weapons including a Potato Launcher. You name it, this game has it
  • Over 100 scroll modifiers: Each scroll picked up in-game changes your current run, for good (convert your enemies in to chickens) or for bad (reduces your speed of movement) and everything in between!
  • Over 35 enemies: mummies, sarcophagus, flying skulls, humanoid snakes, big fat warriors... All willing to kill you!
  • Huge bosses: two in each pyramid with unique gameplay
  • Merchant: Buy equipment and supplies that will be maintained between different games, even when you die
  • Skill Rooms: hone your skills in rooms focused on platforming and avoiding a variety of traps
  • Twitch Quest: special mode for streamers, your community will vote on what happens next!

One of my new favorites

Immortal Redneck is one of those new dungeon crawler / rogue-lite FPS hybrids and like many if not all, it can be frustrating at first but the more you play the better you get and what used to be hard or almost impossible becomes easy and rushable. The rooms themselves will always be the same with the same enemies spawning, the random part is the construction of the floor, the rooms that will be connected to each other. Therefore on one hand it’s bad because it makes the game much more repetitive but on the other it really helps you memorize the layouts and enemies/traps patterns and thefore preparing you for your next run. So what makes this game so special then ? Well without a doubt it’s the gameplay, when you start to get the hang of it the game become incredibly fun. You’re bunny hopping your way out, you avoid every attacks, and the monsters that seemed so tough at first are now a piece of cake. When you start mastering this game it feels so satisfying to clear an entire floor without taking a single hit. Overall I would say it's a very good game, the only downside is the end which is really disappointing considering the effort it takes to reach it but otherwise no complaints here. I have personally spent over 35 hours on it and wouldn't mind playing some more, the feel of the game is so amazing it can be quite addicting, I love it !

Rogue-like Doom clone?

how to best describe this game? the enemy rooms are like Doom levels the shooting is a lot like Quake the art style of Overwatch and a rogue-like formula to stitch all these elements together. I don't usually like rogue-like games because I could never finish them, but it turns out I've just been playing the wrong type of rogue-likes usually rogue-likes are side-scroller or top down perspective pixelated games but as a shooter fan, this one hits right in all places. this game might actually be the first roge-like I'll ever finish. even if you're lucky and don't get any "debuff" skills you still need shooting skill to carry you through the game do try this game if you enjoy fast paces shooting game, especially the old-school ones like Doom , Quake, Serious Sam, are you good at strafing around and shooting stuff in mid-air? then you'll feel right at home. btw, the rocket launcher in this game looks suspiciously similar to the one in Quake (Red/silver color scheme) I'm pretty sure it's a homage from the devs, that alone deserves 4 stars. :)

Completely forgettable

It's just another roguelike. You either like the genre or you don't. Personally, I felt it was a gimmick. You play until you die, then wander back to the place you just were, with no clue where to go. Had they made this a regular, linear game with manual saves, they could made the game way less annoying. But it runs okay, and the mechanics are otherwise smooth.

Fun but not for long

At first glance the game seems fun - fast paced, nice looking shooter. Then comes the realization that the beginning of the game is actually all there is. True, the enemies are getting harder to kill but it all boils down to repeating the same rooms in a more or less random order and grinding for money to buy skills upgrades. And that's it. Fun for an hour. Then gets boring.

Great little indie dungeon crawler

Enter into the pyriamids and destroy room after room of various baddies with various weapons. Then reset, power up, and do it all over again! Great bang for your buck!
