Greatest story ever told

As my title says, about the game the only flaw I can say it is that there's a hidden morality system that you are never informed about and because it is an older game some of the items are too pixelated to be noticed right away. You'll be devoured by the story, it is incredible and horrible dark and you'll love every bit of it. My favorite game along with Bulletstorm, I recommend both.

Great story/setting, poor puzzle design

A mix of body, ethical and psychological horror as you play as 5 different characters each being tormented by a sentient computer at the end of the world. Graphically it still looks pretty good considering its age and the full voice acting and animation is impressive for its age. The music is annoying and overbearing, which I guess is the point as it makes you feel uncomfortable, and the world is bizarre yet recognisable enough to be relevant with its stories of ethical dilemmas and redemption. The story is good, but the puzzles are poor as they are very unclear and it’s far too easy to make a mistake and be locked out of completing a chapter, forcing you to restart and use a walkthrough. As it’s not a long game this isn’t too much of an issue, but is off-putting, especially in the final act where you have to follow a nonsensical sequence precisely otherwise you will fail to get a good ending.

the grip

Just a short review about the grip of the game. I think the reason it has gripped at least me so completely has something to do with its lack of humour. Or how to say? The lack of relief for the characters. Its so vastly different from a lot of point'n'clickkers (Not that there is anything wrong with those either) and when I go through the game world, everything is so desolate. And I start to feel like "Wow, what an atmosphere, what a complete game world." And it seems so amazing.

Great story, awful game

Maybe it's because I normally don't play a lot of click-and-point adventure games, but playing this one was an infuriating experience. The story is well written and a great extention to its source material and the main reason I continued pushing through this nightmare of moon-logic puzzles. I kept soft-locking myself without a guide, which lead me to saving every few minutes, after every bit of progression I managed to do. Suprisingly this game didn't crash on me once. It did bug out frequently, though. I think this game is best experienced watching a walkthrough or with a guide. Solving the puzzles yourself stops feeling rewarding after half an hour and maybe I would have appreciated the symbolism behind them a lot more if I didn't just try combining different items until it worked.

A gem of an adventure game for adults

Same as Deus_Ex, I must admit I loved Harlan Ellison's short story, and loved the game when it first came out. (I believe I first played the demo of the game, which I found on a now-deceased Polish games magazine's CD - Secret Service.) It swooped me of my feet with its dark, gritty suspense and horror laden atmosphere. One cannot help but feel the oppressive watchful eye (sensor?) of AM on the characters. The story is brilliant. Game is beautifully drawn. A true gem for a discerning, mature player! (I suggest reading the short story first!)
