It's alright

I'll start this off by saying that I did have an enjoyable time with the game for the most part. I liked that each scenario wasn't too long and the characters and their stories were pretty interesting. The voice acting also holds up surprisingly well. Minus AM's voice. I know this game is from 1995,but first of all,the music kinda ruined the mood of the game so I turned it off completely. (Thank goodness for the option) Second, the endgame is very frustrating. Or rather, the requirements to get the best ending are what make things frustrating. You need to do each scenario *perfectly* in order to have the items necessary and maybe I was just unlucky, but I followed several walkthroughs to a T,I even replayed the whole game up until endgame, but I was still missing Gorrister's item. It was frustrating. So I had to settle for a "neutral" ending instead. Come on,this was 4-5 years after Monkey Island 1 and 2,why did this game have to include such nonsense mechanics?

A dark, classic point-and-click game!

I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream is an expanded adaptation of the Harlan Ellison short story of the same name. It's about 5 people who are endlessly toyed with for more than a century by AM, an evil AI voiced by the author himself. You must play as all of the 5 characters, and every single one of them has a unique level based on their psychological traumas and regrets. The artstyle for the levels are really great and unique, each of them is very different from one another making them memorable. Like how Benny's is a caveman village with a HR Giger-like aesthetic, and Ted's level being a dark fairytale castle. Your objective is to face your traumas and regrets, emerging as a changed person, which will allow you to get totems and overpower AM in the ending. However, I must say this game isn't that easy. The settings are of course kinda surreal and can be confusing, but other than that you can softlock yourself or accidentally do an action that prevents you from completing the best outcome of the levels, and by extension the ending. To prevent that, you can follow a guide and use multiple save slots. If you're already familiar with the point-and-click genre, it plays similar to the newer ones, so give this great adaptation of a classic sci-fi tale a try!

A great story with flaws in gameplay

This is a great story and It is well worth it. The story helps a lot for me to give 5 stars. However be warned that to play this game enjoyably you must use a guide. This is a point and click adventure game with trial and error and getting stuck is common. So in general save often, use the guide, and be prepared for problems. A great story with a flawed game genre of its time. Also refer to like two guides cause sometimes the guide is vague and misses a step.

Classic Horror at its best

Dark & thrilling in tone. Well written. Not perfect at all but totally worth playing if one does love the point-&-click type of games!

Old but good

The classic point and click controls are cumbersome and it's hard to figure out some puzzles, but it's an interested story and worth a playthrough.
