I Am Alive

Crazy, how a few people who give a damn about games, can buy dead IP and release them with fixes within a few months. Runs great and none of the mouse problems that seem to have pleagued the original are present here. One of those games that came from the amazing "Xbox Live Arcade" -era which spawned so many other classics. Being in that categorie of 5€-15€ games it does not overstay it's welcome at all. The visuals, while looking dated, have a great art direction, with a lot of depths of field and blur, which I usually dislike, but is fitting in this dusty and destroyed world. Gameplay is about 80% climbing and exploring. The rest is interacting with NPCs. Either enemies or neutral characters needing your help, which is optional. Very unique game, can't really compare it to anything. To more dead IPs getting this treatment!

A good but a shorter experience. According to Steam, I finished this in 4.3 hours, December 6 2012 (it probably took longer than that, playing offline and whatnot). But I can't believe it's been that long and I still think about this game. Interesting story, you feel how desperate the world has become. The combat is unique, and I've never seen a game with features like this one. It's a balance for survival, where you always feel on edge about to spend your last bullet in a knife fight. I'm no pro-gamer, and the game wasn't too hard on me. I don't think I ever died or reload a save (other than to try different tactics). Definitely worth a try. And if you ever figure out how to get the shotgun, let me know :p

I remember playing the demo for this on PS3 back in the day but I never actually played the full game. Thanks to GOG, I'm able to play this with some modern improvements. I'm really enjoying it so far! Thanks to the GOG preservation team for all your hard work!

I would give 'I Am Alive' five stars easy, for the concept and game; but this version here needs serious attention given to gamepad issues especially in the menu... There is also the check-point save system that GOG did not fix. Lol. I forgot about this, I did not like, when I wondered even when I saw it here lately, "What was the OTHER game, I played a few years ago, like this?" It WAS this! I wanted to go back to it, could not remember it's name; didn't even realize it WAS this one, until after I bought it here... So, I thank GOG for bringing it here on sale, but does need a bit of work on the controller issues, even if you can not change the save system that is original to it I guess. It otherwise plays fine on my Windows 10/Radeon last gen pc, and I am Enjoying it! :-)
