A fun combination of match-three and hentai. Also features a memory game where I had to recite back the basic facts of each subject and answer ethical questions in accordance to what each one wanted to hear. (Note, IRL this is called "deception" and is a bad way to start a relationship.) My greatest complaint about this game (mind you I played it years ago) is that I COULDN'T GIVE THE ALIEN ARTIFACT (that is, the Weird Device) TO NIKKI! Nikki as a firm believe that we've had extra terrestrial visitors, and that UFOs might be evidence of this, and here I am holding PROOF of ETI and Nikki poo-poos it like I just tried to give her some church literature. THIS IS WHAT YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR! Obviously, giving the weird device to Nikki should have unlocked some major bonus levels or a completely different game a la Frog Fractions or Glittermitten Grove. Or at least given Nikki the most massive braingasm evar. The failure of Hunie-Pop to connect the Extra Terrestrial Enthusiast to the Genuine Extra Terrestrial Intelligence force me to deduct a star from my score. Hence: four stars, would pop again.

Okay, so this was one of those kinda embarrassing purchases - 'no, I'm playing it for the... er... gameplay! yeah..." type things - I came in expecting a semi coherent anime visual novel thing that I'd feel bad about buying after a couple of minutes, but was actually shocked by how good it is; Huniepop is actually surprisingly good: 1: Great artwork - so, it genuinely has good artwork - both the girls, and the scenery are all very well done. 2: Great voicework - each of the girls is fully voiced, and each voice is unique and high quality. 3: Great dialogue - along with the excellent voiceovers, the actual lines the girls speak are generally well done - with a nice sense of humour throughout. Each of the characters is distinct and has their own personality. 4: Catchy soundtrack - seriously - I still have that main song stuck in my head, this has some really fun music. 4: ACTUALLY FUN GAMEPLAY - this was the one I was shocked by - but it's true! A twist on the standard match three bejeweled/candy crush-esque gameplay, Huniepop adds enough to be a unique game in itself. The match three game takes place when you take a girl on a date - to 'win' the date, you must obtain a certain score with a limit of moves. Each of the different 'gems' are worth different amounts - depending on the girl. There are gems that increase the multiplier - gems that allow you to use 'powerups' (that you unlock in the main game), gems that give you extra moves, gems that subtract from your score... It's pretty indepth, and takes a fair bit of strategy, especially late game. In conclusion, what more could you possibly want? Fun gameplay, humour, cool music, and semi-naked anime chicks. If you don't like those things, this isn't the game for you. If you do? Just tell everyone you play if for the gameplay ;)

Great puzzle game, loved it. It's a great experience between main games or to just get a break and relax. 10/5 would recommend.

I downloaded the game illegally but i have been playing for a time and i love it now that i have money i bought and i hope more people start realizing how good and funny is this game

Now you won't see something like this in my list too often, that's for sure. I wanted to know what the controvercy is all about and if it's justified. Even without all the controvercy, it's actually a good game. I may have to add, that I absolutely HATE dating stuff and normally wouldn't touch such a game. I love puzzle games though and wanted to see if the connection actually works. Starting the game in fullscreen mode doesn't work properly in the Linux port, you have to either play int windowed or changed to fullscreen ingame. Another problem if you are one of the perfectionists that want to have 100% everywhere is, that in order to unlock all the outfits, you seem to have to date every girl at every location and one of those is rarely available. I guess, the reason why most of the girls have such big cup sizes is part of the humour. I prefer smaller cups myself, but whatever. ;) The uncensoring file works without any problem and is actually a pretty effective solution to get the censor happy crowd and the officials out of your way while still not having to remove content. The connection between the puzzle and dating part is very clever and refreshingly metaphorical for such a game including a quiz element in the dating made sense too. It certainly can't be easy for such a "player" to remember so many facts about so many girls. xD The "over the top" stuff was hilarious. I actually laughed a lot, especcially about Audrey and Kyu. I'd actually recomment it to people who like puzzle and quiz games with a RL related humour, as long as they are not afraid of the massive amount of nudity. Compared to all the extremely violent stuff around it's actually not really controversial if you're not very prudent. In general I had the feeling, that a lot of thought has been put into the game and I was genuinely surprised, that it seems to be much more professional than what I've seen from the real Japanese games which this one is mocking.
