Description
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is the brutal conclusion to the Hotline Miami saga, set against a backdrop of escalating violence and retribution over spilled blood in the original game. Follow the paths of several distinct factions – each with their own questionable methods and uncertain motivations – as unforeseen consequences intersect and reality once again slips back into a brilliant haze of neon and bloodshed.

Blistering combat against punishing opposition will require intense focus as new variables, weapons, and methods of execution are introduced throughout the struggle. Let the striking colors of an unmistakable visual style wash over as you meticulously cut down those that would stand between you and the ultimate meaning behind the massacre. This is the finale, this is the unquestionable end.

Aaargh

I could only play one level a day because it was so taxing. This game annoyed me to no end and I only kept going because I wanted it to be over. What does it say about the game when I could only beat it with the music turned off (thing is, I really like the music) and the game in a window with the resolution set to 1024x600 so I could see everything at once without moving my eyes too much?

More Hotline Miami :)

It seems much the same as Hotline Miami which is certainly a great game. I would probably rate the first one 5 stars. This sequel is easily 4 stars, and I understand why others have given it 5 stars as well. Some says its a bad thing you have to use guns so much in this game, but as I see it, in the first one you rarely had to use guns at all. So which of the games is it that has a problem? Seems to be a better game design that you have to use all the weapons available, and Hotline Miami 2 certainly does that. There are even enemies that will dodge bullets, so you have to use melee weapons against them, and like in Hotline Miami, there are enemies that can only be killed with guns. I guess the only reason I rate it 1 star less than the first game is because its very hard. So much you get frustrated in quite a few levels. I think I got frustrated in at least 5 levels. But there are 25 levels I think it is, so its not a biggie. And there are plenty levels where you get to use melee weapons. You even get to use a freaking chainsaw in some of the levels :D So if you liked the first game, I can highly recommend this one. I am probably going to play through both games again at some point, since they are so much fun to play. And on the second playthrough you will have more masks and weapons to choose from in both games.

Harder, stronger, better?

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is the "direct" contination to Hotline Miami, i never even heard of this series until the Hotline Miami Collection was announced back in 2019. This is the first game i play in the series, yes, i started with this one and not 1, so my point may vary to others that started to play the first one instead and then this. Story, to start the story is not linear, it goes all the way to 85' to 91' comming back and forward every now and then, so you may get confuse first time playing (i certainly was) with different characters that had their own story to follow, most of them not ending in a good way. Difficulty, yeah this game is harder than the last one, if you find Hotline Miami a hard game, this one will kick not only your ass but your whole digestive system. Patience is required. Gameplay, it follows the same steps as the first game, top down, kill everyone and leave. This time there are no mask to choose, or rather only on certain locations and certain ways that is presented, instead of choosing mask you choose characters that owns that mask, or you will have to choose a start weapon with some characters. It's hard to explain whenever things are consistent with this game or not, the character in the cover doesn't even use a mask! Comparation with Hotline Miami, it's more of the last game in every way possible, bigger, more variety, more locations, more characters, per level soundtrack, more complex, more bloated, more levels and way harder, But why isn't this the definitve Hotline Miami then? This game has a different focus that the original doesn't have and tried to avoid in most occations. More cinematics, more characters, bigger scenarios, get the point? It tried to be something that wasn't it and the beautiful simple charm of the first and the inconsistensy of this games makes me look to the first one with better eyes. I'd say this game chew more than it could shallow but is a solid game that is worth the try.

Just The Best

Hotline Miami was the best indie game, which ultimately led to rebirth of meathshooter(DOOM, UltraKill etc.). But Hotline Miami 2 is the same, but faster, better and much more awesome plot(Sorry for my AWESOME English)

Perfect sequel for me!

Devs went in the direction of innovation instead of iteration. Not all the ideas stick the landing but the aspects that work make this an overall better game than the original. Go in with an open mind. You will surely appreciate it for what it is!
