Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

Shockingly we see Sony put a game on CDP's gog.com, well I'm all for it regardless. The PC port has horrible performance regardless of settings. I'm and ryzen 2700 and vega 56, when I change from medium to ultra has almost zero effect on FPS. Game is just stuck at 30-60 fps no matter what you do. When you drop down to 720p FPS still hovers around 30-60 fps. BTW that's on linux through vk3d3. The game is roughly 1080p 60 high on vega with frame drops on windows. Controller works on windows 10 for me, but not on linux. Your controller may not work even on windows 10. The issue originates from windows, but details on what the issues is nearly unknown. People have found a fix using steam settings or an xbox 360 emulator, but that's not the source of the issue. Something is up with the game that allows it to detect and trigger controller settings. Currently I unfortunetly don't know how to get the controller working on linux without steam. Though I know it's theoretically possilbe for somebody with the know how. As typical with gog release, reviews only need to discuss the technically failings of the gog release, but we still get drm-free goodness which is worth pain because we like the pain.

I may not have a new PC, but my specs are higher than the recommended: i5 7500, 16 gb ram, gtx 1080. I run the benchmark in Original settings and it only sometimes dipped below 60fps. Well this is not true in the real world, outside the starting location. I can barely get any stable fps, when you're riding I get extreme screen tearing with vsync on, fps drops to 40 when you turn around. Lowering the settings doesn't really help at all. I am getting stable 60 only when I lowered the resolution but in this case, this beautiful game looks just hideous

Previously owned it on PS4 and loved every bit of it. Bought it on here and beat it another 2 times, one of my favorite games and I'm happy Sony actually let it on here.

I know what you think - how can a game that looks this cool and with such a unique theme be a failure, especially with such a strong prologue. It's because outside of the prologue nothing is really amazing. Quest design is boring and predictable as well as unrewarding. Crafting is time-consuming, unexciting yet mandatory. Skills on level up don't change the way you play 90% of the time and some are absolutely useless. Dialogue options don't matter and the main character always sound so apolegetic. The opene world is large and full of inqosenquential things to do and there is no reward for exploring. The combat is fine and the story is interesting but alone can't drag the game out of the mud. If the devs decided to put a focus on a more linear experience instead of a hallow open world, the game could have been enjoyable. Currently, it feels like a missed opportunity and a waste of time.

The game really does look amazing if you have a rig that can run it, but somehow the combat is very tedious. It stopped being fun for me after I got to the larger machines, which are so spongy that it takes a while to kill them. The game also incorporates elements of exploration, stealth, crafting, and trading, but none of the systems is individually that interesting. It's a really bland open world RPG with great graphics and mechanics that are just serviceable. I don't think I'd recommend it to anyone.
