Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

Played the game on PS4, was really excited about PC port, but at first it was quite bad, so didn't buy it. Now waited a long time for it to be fixed, most comments say it is fixed, and it is on sale. Thought great, finally will be able to play this game properly on PC, what no one did mention is that some developers are beyond incompetent, as they thought it to be so smart to Optimize Shaders every single time you launch the game, to make it load faster.... Who was it to come up with it, are they still working there?? Because seriously this is the dumbest idea ever... Is it really that hard to have some competent developers these days? WHY does this need to run EVERY SINGLE TIME? Do these "developers" not realise that this process can take 5-30 mintues, each time you launch the game, who ever thought OH THIS IS SAVING TIME, should really consider getting themselves checked, as clearly something is not right with their head. To make it worse, if you "Skip" it by loading the game, it runs worse and even stutters until it "Finishes Optimizing" in the background.... What is the point of optimizing these shaders and saying it will improve loading times, if you are going to do it when the game is restarted anyway and will take around 20 minutes of your time every time you want to play this game? So in short, just cannot recommend this game to anyone, as developers just really didn't bother with the PC port at all, on the contriary tried to make it even worse experience...

Good story, likeable protagonist, very nice sceneries. But the part are the gameplay mechanims of machine hunting. Lacking any adult themes, the story is not as good as in the Witcher, but the machine hunting is hands down THE BEST combat gameplay I have seen in a game.

Got it for my PS4 and am waiting for the new game to come out on the PS5. HZD had a great story, fun combat, and really sucked me into playing it. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys immersive FP games.

I balked a little at the cheesy sounding "savages and robots" theme.. But wow, glad I was tempted by the good reviews.. From the word go, this actually does that strange setting proud. It's well written, and feels more like being inside a well told novel, with event leading naturally so well, at times, you occasionally forget you're running into a storyline. On top of this, it's graphically absolutely stunning. I'm thinking Guerilla is a studio to watch with interest. More like this, and I think I'll be maintaining a little slush fund just for their latest offerings.

Horizon Zero Dawn achieves many of the aspects that make a video game a unique, memorable, and enjoyable experience. What's good? an iconic protagnist that isn't a walking trope + interesting yet realistic supporting character designs (the voice acting isn't cringey unlike most video games ever) beautiful panoramas that one wishes were real, varied enemy types that aren't gimmicky, and aesthetics/cultures inspired by the indigenous people of the Americas- plus contrasting futuristic designs that aren't over the top gameplay that doesn't hold your hand (unless you lower the difficulty) superb graphics and performance (a good amount of settings that one can tweak to their liking) good controller support sound design that can get your adrenaline surging in clutch moments movement and combat are fluid and seem naturally cinematic (good photo mode as well) climbing/parkour mechanics that rival those of Tomb Raider and Uncharted What's bad? an underwhelming boss fight hit boxes on human enemies and wild animals are bad sometimes some of the side quests are straight up boring What's okay? the soundtrack is good, but limited the story isn't all that, but it's definitely a cut above all of the generic garbage many triple A studios are pumping out
