Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

tl;dr: beautiful world, immersive story, very likeable protagonist, excellent voiceacting. Take your time if you want to play this. The game deserves it. If you like open world adventures, get this one. The game starts off quite easy going, introducing you to the maincharacter of the game, Aloy. She has a lot of questions which will not be answered right away. The game takes you in small steps through the beginning of her life. After that there are some minor introduction questions before the game actually starts. Since i suffer from fomo this took me about 3 hours because i wanted to explore everything. The world is just beautiful. Lot of different terrainlevels, random events, creatures, weather etc. There is a lot to explore and to find in the world. The settlements you find differs from mility outposts to developed cities. Small detail is that NPCs you pass by actually react to you. Fighting mechanics are not that hard, but it can be challenging depending on what difficulty you play. There are a lot of ways to take down enemies, from rushing down with melee attacks to stay hidden, set traps and lure them into them. And sometimes just take your loss and run as fast as you can. Moving through the world can sometimes be challenging, because you will run into huge beasts you cannot defeat (yet). Or hordes of smaller ones. You can walk around them, sneak by or engage them in combat. The loot system is fair. You need to craft your own ammo and such which you can make from stuff you can gather or loot from the animal corpses. For me it didnt feel like a real grind. Most rare items you need to get better equipment or upgrades. At some point fast travel is available, but i like wandering about too much so i just walk everywhere and take the slow approach for this game.

This is good and proper RPG game with great characters and the world-building and backstory are simply amazing. Trying to uncover what happened to the civilization during the games story is a truly extraordinary experience. Graphics wise it is one of the most beautiful games on the PS4. Beyond that combat is fun - how can shooting robot dinosaurs with a bow not be :)

An outstanding open world game, would strongly recommend to fans of open worlds

The world is fun and rather open, but after a while the quest all seem very similar and non-engaging and the world seems empty. Which is a problem with some open world games. The machines are fun and interesting at first but after a while they aren't as exciting and normally there isn't a reason to fight them. Story is really good, characters are acceptable and over all the game is worth playing.

I remember when this came out on PlayStation and was drooling over the gameplay, visuals, and story. To see it release on GoG was a no brainer purchase. What a journey! Struggling with Alloy to gain footing in the world through both the story and learning how to battle the machines was elegantly paced. I never felt disconnected with the world or terribly under powered. There was always a way to get out of or avoid battle while making your way across the land. The types of machines felt varied and interesting without being overwhelming. And an excellent sci-fi premise. Cannot wait to play the next one. I am playing on Linux (Manjaro). So mileage may vary. There was nary a crash. Absolutely solid game in terms of stability. The only "issue" I have is it doesn't seem to utilize my Xbox Elite 2 Controller. No big, after a bit of getting used to the keyboard and mouse, it has a rather intuitive layout. You can customize the key bindings if it isn't to your style. And really, if you just gotta play with a controller and it doesn't seem to work, AntiMicroX (keyboard/mouse to joystick mapper) will do the trick. I truly hope Sony continues to release their published games on PC, and especially GoG.
