"fun" game
every boss fight is minor-enemy spam, and there are nonstop boss fights. i loved hollow knight, so im playing through silksong out of obligation, and i can admit its better thought out and has better controls and such. but the actual gameplay is grueling and frustrating. there are many of the really small needle-fodder type creatures that are harder than some mini-bosses, the creators admit this because the hunters journal says things about how hard they are. but at the very least, once its over its over, right? im now in act 3, they have dream-boss fights, where i am now fighting three (or more, havent even beat it yet) rooms of enemy spam, and every time you die, you have to do them all, all over again, it is insane, it is not fun. usually you beat a room, feel good about yourself, and its over to keep progressing, not here. its been over an hour with zero progress to show for it. these arent even full bosses. devs got incredibly lazy on their way of ramping up difficulty, i dont mind boss fights or even hard things, its just the constant nonsense-throwing that upsets me. beat two flying enemies that dodge every strike at the same time? now beat three! im sick of it. i play games to have fun. when i beat something, i want it to be over with. endless repetitive and painful sections that i simply cannot understand. not enough save points, either. the reason this game takes so long to beat is not because its just that full of content, its full of loops of fighting the same unfair battles. every battle with one or two main enemies, ive loved. even certain support-spam bosses that dont do it that much like sister splinter are alright. but thats like... 1%. way less exploring peacefully, way more senseless enemy rooms than the first game. parkour stuff is great, art is great, and most of the gameplay makes you want to quit playing video games. it could have been so great. i want to like this game, and ill play it until completion regardless, but it sucks.
