Hexen II

Hexen II is a dark fantasy first-person shooter video game developed by Raven Software from 1996 to 1997, Experience the Quake Engine's true, polygon-based modeling for the most realistic, detailed environments ever seen in 3D gaming. Both Hexen and Heretic are quite good games. Loved them as a kid back in Wolfenstein/Doom days, love them still.

Great combat, very cool design of enemies, very very cool sound design (you need to hear Eidolon at least once in your life), great artstyle. Some people complain about the puzzles in this game but you have to remember it's from an era whenpeople were expected to apply themselves a lot more to solving issues in video games. And if that doesn't sound like you, the answers can always be easily found on the internet. The areas are designed in such a way however that even after 25 years I know most map layouts by heart, so really, aside from some tough riddles, you'll never get lost.

Raven programmed an awesome game in spite of working for Activision.

The only reason I am not giving this game a 5/5 star rating is because of how cryptic it gets after the second hub. The gameplay is tight, movement is fast as hell and the combat is challenging but rewarding. Visuals and atmosphere are done extremely well and the art style is immaculate. Music is also fantastic.
