Heroes of Might and Magic® 4: Complete

It has some nice ideas but most of the time execusion is bad. Campaign is uterlly unbalanced, so are units and factions. Especially expansions are really rushed. Really disapointed that they didnt had more time to spend on polishing the game.

HOMM IV often gets shunned by heroes community for being too different from its unversally beloved predecessor. But if taken on its own merits, it's an amazing, charming game with gorgeous music and unique take on heroes leveling.

At least at the time, people hated HOMM4 because it wasn't HOMM3, but like Dark Souls 2, I think both the game and its likeability improved significantly. Probably the most dramatic change is the inclusion of Heroes as active participants in battles, which I can understand being controversial, but there is something viscerally satisfying about watching your heroes grow from squishy liabilities to solo murder machines. 9.5/10 - keep coming back.

Still fun! Still runs well. I come back to this game every winter.

I know most Heroes fans are into Heroes 3, but I cannot be sold on it. The ability to keep multiple heroes per army is priceless and that makes the game infinitely better. After so many years, I still love it.
