When Erathia's King Gryphonheart is murdered by traitors he is resurrected as an undead warlord who leads a ruthless invasion of his former Kingdom. Meanwhile the Necromancers raise large hordes of undead and advance towards the Erathian capitol. Best game. Ever.
Title says it all, really. I first played it when it came out in 1999, and i've played it regularly ever since. for 26 years I've played this masterpiece, and I'm probably going to keep doing so for a long time.

All time favorite
I could play this game for hours! The army and hero building mechanisms are really addicting. Definitly one of the best video games of all time.

One of my Old School Favorites
Got introduced to this game when i was 16 and i always liked these games. Trying to beat it now to make way for the Heroes 4. Totally recomend it.
