Useful guide with tips for game mechanic
1.Heroes and their abilities: A) Knight: bonus morale allows to make army from 3 other fraction without penalties. If less than there is chance for creature to make second action. More defence stats is useful for infantry units. B) Barbarian: no movement penalties in rough terrain.More attack stat good when mixed with fast units. C) Warlock: good explorer thanks to increase visibility and starting with fast unit. Good damage dealer as he gain more power than knowledge. D) Sorceress: more movement in sea. Good for switching towns for spell gathering even if their power will be weaker than Warlock. 2.Speed: A) Speed of hero in world map: Determined by slowest creature in army. B) Speed of creature in battle map: This and unit position in army determines turn order(from left to right) Ambusher get first turn unless enemy has speed advantage. There are 3 speed of them: (Slow): Use them as second wave so they don't get retaliation damage.Use on them speed spell to gain two action in row. Almost everyone get better HP/gold ratio than others. (Normal): Set weaker units in higher position so they get retaliation damage. Stronger unit of same speed set in lower position for better control. (Fast): Best put in first or last position depending if enemy has one in army. Allow you to cast spell first. Two hex unit can atack other two hex one if put in same stright line as them. 3.Unit type triangle: A) Infantry vs Archers: heavy losses for Inf especially when hit by castle towers. Inf need god Def to stay alive. B)Flying vs Archers: Arc can't shoot when blocked by enemy and deal half dmg. Fly ones can move anywere on map and pin units. Arc are always targeted first by A.I. so don't overbuy weak ones. C) Infantry vs Flying: Inf have better stats and are cheaper but all Fly have special gimick that can make them stronger. Gargoyle-cheap fast casting e.t.c. Use stack of slow units to kill wild stack as they come to you anyway. 4.Generals tips: A) Make buffer space betwen you and enemy using towns. Recuit one unit of everyting so enemy will waste spells on them. After that his units will be splitted in that town. B) Save low level creatures (1-2) for enemy to waste their money on them.4-6 ones have better hp/gold ratio and having at least 25 hp lessen spells loses C)Try to get Castle with Meteor Shower or Lightning for your coward mages. Let them have fast one on first slot and rest fill with one unit of creature. It allows to cast 2 or more spells before escaping. Enemy loses spells and more money than you depending on spell power. D) Get every Castle with Storm and Armageddon spell to prevent suicide casters. E) Don't level every hero but recruit enemy good ones so they must use weak not matching ones.
