Description
Hellpoint is a dark and challenging action RPG set in a heavily atmospheric sci-fi universe where the line between science and occultism is blurred.

Once a pinnacle of human achievement, the Irid Novo space station has fallen. Its ruins are now overrun by cruel interdimensional entities acting as puppets of the malevolent Cosmic Gods.

You have been created by the Author, organically printed on Irid Novo and sent on a mission to find out the unholy series of events that led to the catastrophic incident known as the Merge.

  • Irid Novo is a massive interconnected world full of mysteries, hidden passages and secrets within secrets - all for you to explore in any order you like. More dread and shivers awaits you as you travel deeper into the darkest corner of this forsaken colony.

  • Dozens of melee and ranged weapons and armor pieces to suit your playstyle. Every weapon has unique special abilities that unlock the more you fight with them.

  • A fascinating new sci fi universe reminiscent of classic sci-fi movies, set in the aftermath of a massive quantum cataclysm and complete with a deep lore and goosebump inducing soundtrack.

  • The space station orbits in real time around an ominous black hole that triggers various dynamic events such as boss appearances, horde assaults as well as modified enemy stats and positions.

  • If you are struggling, ask a friend to press Start to join in a couch coop session, or call for assistance online. The entire game can be completed uninterrupted in coop. The loot is shared, and the experience of local player two is saved and not watered down.

Not fun or interesting

This game has a couple moderately interesting ideas but they're few and far between. "Dark souls in space" sounds fun, but pass on this one. Whether you are a souls fan or not, I think you'll be disappointed. -Very, very, VERY confusing and repetitive area design with artificially limted fast travel -Clunky, plodding, repetitive combat -Parkour elements in some places, but jumping is clunky and slippy and if you fall you die Really I can't overstate how repetitive everything is. You fight the same five enemies over and over and over again. Every area is like those 3D mazes you have to get a ball bearing through, it's just torturous. You might finally get somewhere only to take a door you had no idea was one-way until you end up on the other side, or use up all your fast travel unlocks and get stuck in some huge empty zone that takes an hour to get out of. The game is alternately frustrating and boring and worst of all, unrewarding. It's not a *hard* game, it's just not fun to play. I got this game for free and honestly wish I hadn't installed it.

Good

Not, I would give 5 out of 5 stars, buth my main gripe is the optimization. PC version is more up-to-date, but consoles have been completely forgotten. Even here, there are occasional crashes/glitches which could easily get fixed if developers were more active. Though, they're setting up an expansion, the Blue Sun DLC. MAjor points are to the atmosphere and sound effects, while the combat is ok-ish, with tons of customization. Difficulty is high at the beginning, mostly due the huge sense of exploration given by the jump mechanic, something which souls-like rarely add to their core. Is it worth it? I'd say yes, but only if on sale.

Generic but alright.

Hellpoint is almost exactly what you'd expect out of a Souls style game. You don't need to play it long to figure it out, the story fades quickly into the background as pointless white noise and, although beautifully crafted, the monsters are repedative to a fault. A fantastic time waster, but has little to offer for those who saw "RPG" in its details. Pick up weapon, kill monsters, die often, repeat. What keeps this from being 4 stars is less the generic and cookie-cutter nature of the game, but the constant buggieness. Hitboxes don't always recognize, the controls are janky as sin, and the framerate needs work. Overall a solid 3/5.

Worth giving a chance

After nearly 8h in game i still want to continue despite a few annoying bugs, such as your ghost getting stuck ON you sometimes, as well as (happened one time only) disappearing textures. Bosses are not super challenging though, you won’t get that dark souls frustration :D

Event Hellrizon

I can't recommend this game enough if you love the exploration and unfolding aspect of the Metrovanisouls genre. This game is like an intricate paper envelope that unfolds differently to everyone it is handed to. Every time I read about someone else's experience, they took a completely different progression path through the station/game environment. So, your difficulty spikes come with deep valleys as there are several areas that accomplish being suitable for early, mid, and late game. Every good souls game teaches you consider and hinge your whole play style upon things that other games simply tack on as a mechanic. Hellpoint tasks you with two things: Always be mindful of where your feet are and look up I was a fan of all of the environmental traversal of DS1, which is funny because that game's control scheme is absolutely not suited to platforming, and the devs knew it, and they loved setting up uncomfortable and clench-worthy paths and perils. Hellpoint takes that idea to extremes while giving you the agility to work with it. Irid Novo (the space habitrail you're running about in) is a big middle finger to OSHA, but every stupid, peripheral smiting worthy platform path has something at the end of it. You will be hard-pressed to find an area you can reach that they didn't intend for you to get to, no matter how obscure. Yes, there are a lot of points where you will wonder why they didn't finish the design of an area from one angle or another, but I think it gets overlooked just how great the draw distance is in this game, especially when you consider the verticality of some of the areas across the station. Mobs will be walking about seven floors below you, light sources are visible and casting shadows from all distances. The darkness in this game is everywhere and it works really well so long as you've got your contrast settings keyed in. Git Gud Spawn
