Hell Pie

Hell Pie is a 3D platformer with gameplay reminiscent of A Hat in Time. Unlike A Hat in Time, Hell Pie contains a large does of not-safe-for-work humor, which usually hits the mark. The level designs are interesting and the control is intuitive, though maybe a bit less polished-feeling than some others in the genre. Much of the movement involves swinging through the air from a chain, which you can anchor in space through the use of your flying cherub, Nugget. I took off one star due to fairly frequent bugs. The most common issue is the camera getting stuck at an odd angle, though can be resolved by entering and exiting the game menu. I encountered a few issues of the player clipping out of the world, which can be resolved by respawning at a checkpoint. I also encountered a couple of crash-to-desktops and a couple of instances of a boss not spawning, which required reloading the level. Overall though, I had a lot of fun, and would recommend the game to anyone who enjoys 3D platformers.

The game is heavily inspired by Conkers Bad Fur day and the old "collectatons"-games of the past. Exploring a hub world, whcih will give you entry to all the different levels like you did in the games from your childhood. I really adore the cute design of Nate the demon, and the cartoon style is really fitting. Jumping and running works very well, especially if you progress a bit, which can also lead to some skipping of plattforms in the end. But: You are mostly fighting against the camera, which will lead to overjumping plattforms and some death screens which feel unearned by lack of skill. Levels are all distinct from each other and follow a theme. So they come with different obstacles to avoid. You wont get bored by it. The humor. Well, it can be hit and miss sometimes. I wish there would be some funny jokes which would make me laugh out loud, but so far (just entered the fourth level), Im mostly amused by the design of the creatures. The obscene-tag is not a lie at all with this game. But that is just me. Im still liking this game, love playing it and the OST is also good! The strangest thing Ive couldnt wrap my head around with this game, is the "RTX" option. Dont know what this is for. Even the shadows are simple blob shadows, and it looks the same as if you have disabled it. So maybe a bit heavy on the gpu. I can recommend it to people who like cartoony jump and runs from their childhood and can go along with crude humore/ graphics.
