Description
Hell Division is a third-person shooter where you pilot lethal drones.
Become a pilot of an armed military drone and plunge into adrenaline-fueled action set in a cyberpunk city divided between two ruthless corporations. The confrontation is inevitable, the question is – will you prevail?
BACKGROUND
It all started when one of the powerful corporations manufacturing drones took over almost all of cyberspace. The goal of its leaders is to set their own rules and rule supreme.
COUNTERACTION
However, as usual – the competition does not sleep. Another corporation has released its own line of drones, superior in all technical aspects, yet less numerous.
THE TRUTH IS BORN IN ARGUMENT
Take control of one of such warring drones, holding off several dozen machines of your enemy. Achieving victory won’t be easy so you will need to put both your reflexes and cunning to the test..
GAME FEATURES:
6 game locations that are set in a cyberpunk-styled metropolis
A story of a conflict between 2 power-hungry corporations
Dynamic air battles that will take your breath away
Sophisticated enemy AI that will make you sweat
Challenging missions of various types and goals
Different enemies that will put your skills to the test
I played it for 30 minutes. A boring hell!
Its whole HUD is a health bar... No controls for elevation! You just move back & forth shooting the endless enemy drones until you see they explode or your health bar depletes to start the level over again. And that's all the fun you get.
The repetitive background music gets boring fast. A waste of 6 Gigabytes and my time.
Totally unhappy with this game received for free.
This, uh, "game" is very short, with nothing much to do, but frantically shoot enemy drones with your own drone. Yes, what you see in the trailer is actually all there is.
Like somebody said: the game is more like a tech demo than a full game. Definitely not worth full price (or even discounted one). But since I got it at a giveaway, I'm reviewing it from that point: as a free game, it's worth trying out.
Pro:
* Haven't tried joypad controls that everybody complains so much about, but mouse+KB works just fine.
* I found no serious bugs (except some clipping issues), and no crashes.
Con:
* Your (quite ugly) drone tends to completely obscure the view when its back comes too close to a wall, so you can't see what you're shooting at.
* Just two kinds of enemies (normal and upgraded drones). You meet upgraded ones only on the last two levels.
* Only six levels, and more or less the same (save for different background). Well, the "Mines" level is somewhat different - IMO even worse than the rest...
* Not *the* worst ending of all times, but quite close.
Meh:
* Gameplay isn't much fun, but I wasn't completely disappointed either.
* If you're out in the open the enemies can overwhelm you in a minute, unless you madly strafe left-and-right avoiding hits. But if you find a suitable cover for your back (and preferably top and bottom) you can just wait and shoot approaching drones. So there *is* a wee bit of, huh, tactic involved.
* There *exists* a story of sorts (told as a few line of text before each level), though rather lame and completely predictable.
2.5 out of 5. Runded it up, because from the reviews here I expected it to be even worse.
Controls are typical, easy to get used to, that's about it.
Other than that, this is nowhere near worth it. It's akin to something you'd find on the 2010 app store for MAYBE 99¢, but even that's pushing it. Even as a person who claimed it for free, it's not worth it. The optimization is not there (gameplay very jittery), you can limitlessly spam the secondary weapon if you have an autoclicker, and the gameplay is super slow. You also simply can't die, at least I wasn't able to on the first level, which was as far as I could get. The enemies stopped appearing about halfway through, or just began appearing very slowly and at absurd distances.
Also, they seemingly botted their reviews on Steam. Shady dev altogether, avoid at all costs.
I see lots of one star reviews and considered to give the same score, but I did beat it. Took me less than hour and not a small part of the actual game time was spent on level three wandering aimlessly before I realized that, yes, you're actually supposed to just shoot the giant floating isles until they break. The game has many flaws and feels more like a proof of concept for an actual project, but I did have just about enough enjoyment out from it to not give it a one star. The full price is an insult tho.
My most succint opinion of this is as per the title. I got this for free, so I don't mind that much, but it still sucks that I don't feel like completing this game. It's a pretty brain-dead game but nevertheless OK in a low price such as under $1.
The game lacks any sense of logic or story, but this isn't a criticism, because it's a cheap game. See the game featured screenshots and video to get an idea what game this is. Turning off music almost mutes the game except for gun shots and lifeless explosion sounds. The helicopter does not even make a rotor spinning sound.
It's a fun game nonetheless for kids who are just getting into gaming. There are 6 missions iirc and each one I believe has simple but unlearly explained objectives. I only completed the first mission but that is my guess for the rest of the game.
