Hell Architect is a game about building and managing your own hell. You take on a role of a hell manager and are tasked with developing the underworld in a way that would make Lucifer himself fall off his chair.

Create a hell of your dreams - will it have the infamous 9 levels, or will you create your own chaos, the way you see fit?
You begin with some basic buildings, like power stations (yup, they need those in hell, too!) and canteens, work your way through shrines and toilets and finish off with some intricate torture contraptions.

You can treat the sinners sent to your humble abode to different, fun (or not) sources of suffering - be it by punishing them for disobedience or just doing it for fun. Your hell, your choices.

Like "Oxygen Not Included", but worse.

Some game mechanics are better, for example resources no longer need to be stored and food never spoils; gases and liquids don't exist. But otherwise it looks bleak: The German translation is atrociously bad. And the game is full of bugs: At some point, sinners no longer use the toilets. Saving and loading fixes the problem, but reveals a much worse one: loading a save game that is a bit more complex (over 3 hours of gameplay) doesn't work, and the loaded save game is unusable. In addition, the game balance leads to extremely tough progress on all difficulty levels, especially regarding the later torture instruments, which are disproportionately expensive and do not generate proportionately more resources. All in all, there are good attempts and the scenario is delightfully morbid, but this game is not finished yet!

Nice game but runs like ass.

I rather like this game, but I cannot deny that it runs like absolute ass the moment you can more then a handful or two of sinners running about on your screen. This is an entirely 2D game with a game world that's on the small side so it has no reason or excuse to struggle to run at a decent pace or drop frames or stutter all the damn time. It's UI is a bit of a mess/problem as well, its too small to read while also being so big it causes issues. It's scalable to your own preference but it never worked out just right for me. I have not encountered any bugs in-game but the game can crash on occasion, no idea what causes it. It is an enjoyable game though, simple but fun story and characters, a challenging last level, and a good number of extra levels once the story is done so you really have the freedom to build as you want. It is disappointing to see so little and poor use of demons though, a real shame, it would have been nice if you could actually do something with them that wasn't just placing them down as basically a statue to provide a buff.
