Description
Hammerting is a vertical dwarven mining colony sim with RPG elements.

Manage a clan of colourful Dwarves, establish an epic mining operation, craft legendary swords and delve deep for greater glory, riches... and danger.

With a conflict raging on the surface, the Dwarves pledge to delve deep and as master craftspeople, will produce and supply what is needed to support their allies. From humble beginnings, you start with a handful of Dwarves who need to set up their operations quickly. However, as you progress, your small clan will expand and become known throughout the Overworld for their skill and premium craftsmanship.

Crafting for Victory

Allies on the surface will have all manner of requests. Dwarves may find themselves asked to craft a plethora of silver swords against an oncoming vampire army, or alternatively, for an elf princess’ coronation, they’ll be tasked with creating nothing less than a Legendary Diamond-Encrusted Gold Crown of Divine Ruling +3.

With the Overworld in need, every successful delivery takes you one step closer to triumph. As your Dwarves grow in skill and your base expands, build conveyor belts and elevators to free them of manual labour.

Colorful Personalities

Does Åglöf’s fancy ancestry clash with Vargskreva’s humble upbringing? Is your explorer afraid of the dark? Has your master crafter reached their Ballmer Peak? Aim for success and exploit the strengths of your Dwarves, as well as their weaknesses. Each Dwarf is richly and uniquely defined through its stats, Dwarven ancestry, traits, abilities, equipment, move-set and much more, as they are shaped by events occurring in their lives.

Skilled Craftspeople

Anyone can craft an Iron Sword, but only Dwarves can haggle a Crystal Cave Dragon to sell her fiery Plasma Breath, pump it up to an Andthril Forge of Doom and use it to craft the... Iron Sword +2.

With every strike of the hammer on an anvil, a skilled Dwarf has a better chance of achieving a critical result, giving you better gear.

Living Cave

It is as they say – “Fortune favours the bold”, and only in the deepest depths will you find the most powerful materials, the warmest magma, the rarest treasures, but also the most dangerous conditions.

Figuring out the fastest and safest route down - and up again - is a chief concern, but you’ll have plenty of unique Dwarven mechanisms to help you to do so.
Hammerting features liquid and physics mechanics for pumping sizzling lava to your hearths, brewing hoppy beer, tossing burning torches down shafts to light up the unknown and more!

Modding

Want to bring your own spin to Hammerting? The game has been built with modding in mind! A bundled SDK allows you to build pre-packaged mods, adding anything from new names, to plugging in full-blown systems in native C/C++. Documentation, additional hooks, and general support for this is something we plan for after Early Access.

End note

Please wishlist the game, and feel free to come join us on Discord and obviously follow us on Twitter!

Would have been good.

Let me start with the good stuff. YES, it is a nice city/colony builder with Dwarves. If it sounds appealing - good. The graphic design is nice. Not next gen, but it's solid and pleasant. The basic idea is simple to follow, same goes with the tech tree, sorts of buildings, jobs and so on. It can be really nice when you play it without going hardcore - a click here and there, a bit of focus on diffing ever deeper and it's all OK. So why the three stars? What are the issues? First off, the game is unbalanced - usually it's VERY easy to play, but depending on the seed and your settings it can be almost impossible. In no small part due to your dwarfs being brain dead. Suicidal rush towards enemy nest because there is something that the colony could need? No problem! Dwarfs being unconcious and dying while the rest does not give a damn about it and there's nothing you can do? Sure. Also: The soundtrack is nice, but it would be nicer if it contained more than one track. The colony gets more and more difficult to manage overtime as there are issues with scaling and tasks tuning. Too much micromanagement that often seems not to work, anyway. VERY IMPORTANT: the devs declared the game abandoned so while it had potential and with some fixes here and there could be pretty cool it's not going to reach that state. Not today, not tomorrow, never. All in all, you can buy it for some clicks and fun when it's discounted, but that's it. A game that could have been something MUCH better.

So good...to a performance failure point

A lot of the reviews of this game are tainted by early access issues and dislike of the devs for stopping patching, so take them with a grain of salt. I got this heavily discounted and for the money had a blast. The only other game I've played like this was "A Game of Dwarves" and I thoroughly enjoyed it, as basic and dated as it is. Pros: + Dwarves! + Addicting (expect sleepless nights of "Just 30 more minutes..." + Pretty! Love the interface and graphics. 64X FSAA. + Hours of fun to be had. Cons: - Text tutorial can be overwhelming. - Performance: After my colony grew to a certain size, I started getting performance stutters and the game was no longer playable. It seemed to happen when I really opened up the mountain/got a lot of dwaves. - Monsters don't path around, although waves will spawn and flood your base. - The overworld doesn't have much explanation and when you pop your head up, civilizations you were trading with are gone and new alliances have cropped up. War will be declared on you. It doesn't seem to matter much what you do up there in terms of building or gaining reputation, as long as you can get a good price for goods somewhere. It can be fun to support one side of a war (or both), but I didn't really understand it. It doesn't feel fleshed out. I'm used to that sort of thing from small devs, though. Big ideas, lite implementation. - Your dwarves underground will take ages to build scaffolding or explore and once you've opened up a lot of the mountain, be prepared for exploration to slow down. Speeding the game up isn't really an answer to this as the overworld goes nuts. - Mass transit systems don't seem to work right and are very hard to build. The mountain itself isn't conducive to using them. Summary: This is a really fun game, if you don't get caught in a performance trap like I did. The game became unplayable. The devs have announced no more updates for the game and have moved on to other projects, so it's unlikely to ever be fixed.

BUYER BEWARE! THIS IS ABANDONWARE!

The so-called "developers" dropped this game after working on it for barely a year or two and left it in such a horribly unfinished state as to be completely unplayable. It's riddled with bugs, faulty information in tooltips/in-game guides, and so many unfinished and poorly implement "features". So in other words, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!

Could`ve been than Craft The World

Craft The World is the only other game I`ve played that looks and plays similar. I didn`t really like that game because AI was terrible and when having too many things to do in the queue with too many dwarfs they just froze there and did nothing, so I never really did play after that to see if they fixed those bugs, but it was a decent game. However, Hammerting could`ve been a better game. The AI is better even though is nto finished and polished. The systems were decent enough to be scalable in later patches and the asthetics of the game were nice enough for such an indie game. The main problem with the game is the lack of balanced between what you need early on and the recipes that you unlock. Most games would give you the basic recipes to craft while maintaining a certain need to go further. Hammerting doesnt care, it will give farming, but you will not be able to make food early on only on farming, it will give you smelting, but it won`t give you blacksmithing until later on, and to get medicine is a pain early one. And after reading in the comments it just makes this a sad game that does have a good solid base to build upon that will never come to fruition.

What is going on with these reviews?

Look at this! More in the past few weeks that just basically say "fun". There's been a plague of these recently! They're always 4 or 5 star so they bump up the game's rating (whether the game deserves it or not!) And they always say "Reviews : 1" so this shit is their first and only review? Something REALLY odd is going on here. Go shove it up your ass "KaffeekannePlin" and "kacc041". As for my opinion....... I hated it, I just could not do anything. The obfuscative AI and USELESS tutorials helped none!
