FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
COLLECTION: Your account will get at start fair numbers of card shards, allowing you to build a few good decks without paying (check them on internet but avoid those including cards with cost higher than 800). Progression system is working well and with some patience you can build more decks for free. Then you might consider buying kegs with cards, skins or even "Thronebreaker" game which is cool solo mode cards game and grants some bonuses for this game.
GAMEPLAY: Bo3 format may be a bit weird for those used to 1 round gameplay (as I am) but it is not a bad thing and brings some interesting mechanics. Various card abilities are fine. Some new content may bait you to buy it by its might and overpowerness but it is balanced quite fast.
ART: 3D models, card effetcts and music do their job. Additional point for Witcher fans as many of cards recreate characters from game and there are many references.
I would play it only on PC but the downside (for now) is lack of mobile version - although it's work in progress i think. Season content appears every month or two. Game community is not that big but creators work hard to make it (gl creators!!! hf players!!!).
Enjoyed beta way more. Liked better the 3 line concept like Witcher 3 and how the leaders were used. Gwent after HC is a different game , fun but worse than beta , in my opinion.
It has been approximately 1 year since the release of Homecoming and the end of Open Beta.
I can say with certainty that yes, Gwent is still worth it. It is the best online ccg on the market for its unique gameplay and amazing design. At the time of this writing we have had 3 separate expansions released and the current meta has been the best it has been yet. CDPR has delivered a knockout multiplayer game. It is a hidden gem amongst card games. Very affordable and new user friendly. Just try it and give it a shot!
This is probably one of the most generous card game on the market now.
I've played since open beta and stopped playing after homecoming because it feels like a completely different game. But then I came back after the Crimson cursed expansion, which I was astonished by how much the game have been improved such as UI, animation, balanced meta, rewards, Twitch extension, cosmetics, quality of life features etc. And best of all was that I can pretty much craft every single card with all the scraps I've collected before.
In conclusion, I would recommend this game to anyone that don't want to spend too much or any money just to catch up to the meta, because even a new player can craft a meta deck with a bit of time invested. The only criticism I have is there isn't a lot of official tutorials that teaches new players more in depth on the fundamental and strategic side of Gwent, other than places such as Aretuza and a small amount of Gwent content creators.
After nearly 3000 hours invested in Gwent, I still do believe that this is the best card game of the decade. Didnt invest a single penny, obtained everything with playing. Great mechanics, lot of thinking needed.
Chinese review bombing is pathetic. The game itself deserves 5 stars for sure, people just cannot stay objective.
