FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
Find myself becoming frustrated by game mechanics, limited pve mode, and challenge curve of available computer components. While the concept seems interesting the playing of the game seems like an uninspred mess.
I was beta testing this game for 2 years. Final version that came live is very different game.
They've added ton of features that does nothing for complexity of the game. Game is slow, tedious and solution for that are animations so fast, you can barely tell what is going on when special card is played. Gold limit got removed and now all the strategy you need is to draw full hand of gold cards in Round 3. In Beta Gwent there was insane ammount of synergies between the cards, and bronze cards mattered. Now bronze cards are garbage you throw away in Round 1, and only reason you adding them to the deck is provision system that forces you to fit into specific points limit.
Every time when there's new expansion I'm giving new Gwent a chance, and I'm edning up uninstalling it after few games becouse my jaw hurts from all the yawns.
2 stars just for the art and Witcher universe. This is awful game.
This is, obviously, my personal opinion.
Homecoming was the worst thing for Gwent. Nobody asked for it. Literally. All of the feedback was always about balancing, make the game more interesting etc. Gwent was an idea, a suggestion from The Witcher gamers that liked the in-game Gwent concept. The board game. The looks of it, the feels of it. Homecoming changed everything that people playing Gwent liked.
There was a time before Gwent when the game was bacoming more and more popular because anything was possible. Because visually it was easy to understand and play and aesthetically appealing. Homecoming brought thins no one asked for and on top of that the gameplay is visually confusing. No matter how many QoL you do for HC, it'll never get better to a standard appealling for the masses. The mechanics of HC are also too complicated, unnecessarily complex and the more they add the worst it feels.
I would start playing the game again only if they would release the before HC version. As is, the game is predictable and boring as hell for me. HC made it uninteresting and visually ugly. Remember that before HC people were swarming in, there was something there. HC made the majority of people leave and you still didn't get it. Why?! Aknowledge your mistakes if you wanna get better. Simple.
This game is absolutly fantastic if you like card games, mind games or making plans. It's strategic, very rewarding and can be played competitively for next to nothing (get the starter pack, it's gorgeous).
A big kudos for all the devs and the artists, you see that they love videogames and they want to create a product that makes them proud. They succeeded.
i played alott in the beta and i loved it and now that i came back to play some more of that it was a totaly different game it looks nice but everything is so slow with forcing you to wait for animations on a card game ... i miss the 3 lane system alott and now it feels kinds dummed down for some reason
for a new player i absolutely reccomend it but its no longer anything for me at all
