Red Dead Lite
Thats a good thing though, predated R*'s big 2010 western by about 5 years. Bit more of a pulpy, dime novel story, but great production values in its execution. Open world with several familiar activities, mining(treasure hunting), hunting, ranch work, bounties, poker and some other side quests all add to a short main story. Very fun, great voice acting, music and some unexpected touches in the sound design. Not nearly as filled out or living and breathing as a R* game like Red Dead, but fun for what it is. World is small but diverse in geography and like I said, lots of activities that Red Dead Redemption would go on to also incorporate into its open world. Controls well, has 'bosses' with health bars dating it to its time period, but they're fun. +Production Values- Though graphics have aged, the overall polish along with the gameplay variety, voice acting and musical score and controls all work great. - Empty World - More noticeable if you've played any AAA open world game from the past 10+ years is the lack of NPCs and the possibilities of interacting with them.

PS2-era Classic!
It's a great game for It's time. Many of the features foreshadowed in this game were going to be standards of Rockstar's 'western simulator' Red Dead Redemption. + Great visuals and sounds, great western spaghetti vibe! + Surprisingly great story, for a PS2-era game. Interesting characters and storytelling + Sidemission variety is fun and engaging. Just loved the little proto-sidequests + The open-world looks and feels amazing for a PS2 game, there are hunting missions, courier jobs, deputy service and even some poker games for you to play. - The only downside; It's a PS2 game, straight to the point. Even If some mission design amuses a bit, It still plays acardey and the the main missions follows the 'shooting gallery' trend near the endgame. PS: Avoid 'hard' difficulty, It's just a chore!
