Guard Duty

It's clear to see that Guard Duty is a passion project by a small group of talented individuals. The game is short but oozes passion. It can be completed in about 3 to 4 hours, at times I had to look at a walkthrough as some bits were difficult to find but on the whole, it's an enjoyable game. There are two timelines as advertised however this should have been expanded upon, the last act was good but did feel a wee bit rushed. Overall, I'd recommend Guard Duty to anyone who is into Point and Click adventure games. The game isn't too serious but has a good blend of humour mixed in with a decent, but short story.

Pixel art is really nice but the voice acting is mediocre and the game is short. Also, there are two timelines as advertised, one in the past and one in the future, but there are absolutely no interaction between the two (nothing like in the good old Day of The Tentacle...).

If you like oldschoold pixel-art adventure games, this one should be great for you to spend an evening on. It has a good pixel-art artstyle and a decent soundtrack. The puzzles are reasonable. I give it three stars because of the story. The game seems to reference Metal Gear Solid a bit too heavily. The past/future feature mentioned in the description is overstated: you play most of the game in the past and have a short segment when you play in the future. The game seems to have quite a bad way of using its assets: there are a couple of locations with voiced characters that are not used to progress the story at all which seems like wasted resources that could've been used to make other aspects better. Overall I enjoyed this game for a night, but I don't think I'll come back to it.

The game is alright, but it's way too short, has very few puzzles and has a somewhat lame ending. If you want to spend an evening on a quick game in a fun enough setting this might be something to check out.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. Great voice acting, the puzzles are rather easy most of the time and before it gets annoying, it is over. Although I clicked through the dialoges fast to get on with the game. Nothing against dialoges, but here I guess they were written not very good. And there is so much stuff that you don't need, I wondered whether this is supposed to be just a ton of red herrings or did they finish the game prematurely.
