Ground Control Anthology

Ground Control shares many similarities with other RTS games, but there are notable differences as well, such as not being able to build more units or buildings during a mission. As a result, it is not only familiar to any RTS player but also a breath of fresh air. The game is easy to pick up, fun to play and still nicely challenging. The graphics were good at the time ("Dude, look! Shell casings!"), the voice acting is good still and the storyline solid. I see no reason why you shouldn't.

This is my all-time favorite RTT. I have yet to find a control scheme that's been as satisfying. The camera is great and I'd love to see this series continue beyond GC2. And yes, Real-time tactical. This isn't about resource gathering, but rather utilizing your resources (units). There's nothing as satisfying as driving the enemy into a ravine and pounding him from the cliffs.

Hey Guys was looking forward to getting back into this game but it doesnt start up on windows 7/vista keeps coming up with ground control exceutable has stropped working

I first played this game when it was released and I was an very active at the Massive Entertainment Forums. I also run a dedicated game site at, with huge amounts of information about the game. You learn to focus on few unitis and use them as efficiently as possible. Artillery was is awesome, but you had to learn to use it. I grew very fond of this game, and made a few comparisons to another, Uprising, which had a similar approach, but more sci-fi. To be honest I thought I never play the game again, but knowing of GOG it was just a matter of time before I picked it up here, yet again. While the second installment was in many ways an awesome update, it was too different, and I never got around to play it as much.

The new "innovations" that has come about in the RTS genre with games like DoW, CoH and such came from this franchise. It was ahead of it's time this game, way ahead, well worth your money. Buy the franchise and have fun. Oh and you know World in Conflict? They're like that but these are the parents. Same developer I think.
