Unique RTS Game

Ground Control is a really interesting and challenging RTS game. The gameplay is divided up into two parts: 1.) Planning Planning in Ground Control means that you have to organize your troops. You have the choice between a certain set of reserves like light tanks, infantry, heavy tanks, anti-air vehicles etc. Your goal is to setup your landing ships with the proper troops for the task at hand. 2.) Combat The combat system is really great. You have a full fledged 3D terrain with shadows, lights etc. It can be difficult at times to set your troops up properly as most guns shoot in a straight line and the AI wont move them properly into position to actually hit anything. You have to do that yourself. However for most of the time that wont be a real issue anyways. The game is a big load of fun for everyone who loves RTS games without difficult economy systems. It relys on its gameplay characteristics and executes everything very good.

Modern Real Time Strategy At Its Finest

Massive Entertainment's Ground Control is not just one of the first but also one of the best and most well-designed tactical 3D RTSs, which means it has aged quite well in terms of controls, user interface and overall accessibility. For newcomers to the series, GC is especially worth a purchase if you're already a fan of World in Conflict, Supreme Commander and similarily action-packed strategy games from the last few years. And even by GOG standards, this generous bundle with both the original game and the great expansion pack is an absolute steal.

An old favorite!

This was one of the first games I purchased for my first powerhouse PC. It's a long and challenging tactical combat game with a great setting, very good story and catchy, deceptively simple action. This is the grandaddy of World in Conflict, If you hate that game it's unlikely this will appeal to you. Missions are heavily scripted tactical combat. There is alot of need to juggle units and maneuver them so they don't destroy each other. Keep em alive and they'll get very powerful. You control no bases and reinforcements are not available. The first three levels are a little dull, but once you get past them you'll find a long and challenging tactical experience with a fantastic interface. It may be a little simple for contemporary tastes, and the expansion is insanely tough. I love this game and am happy I won't have babysit the CD's anymore! Thank you GOG!

An RTS game with no base building

This is one of the few RTS strategy games which does not evolve around the building of bases and aquiring resources as quickly as possible to overcome the enemy. Your units are simply dropshipped into the combat zones at the start of each mission. The missions do follow the standard RTS mix such as seek & destroy & protect outposts from attack & destroy the enemy base. Some do have timer modes but are never too frustrating or long & most importantly for me it has a difficulty mode which does make a difference, easy is actually easy, unlike other games in the genre which still seem to be impossible on the easiest difficulty after the first few missions. The controls are very well done and very easy to get to grips with and the quick tutorial teaches you everything you need to know in 3 small stages. Overall it's a very easy and accessable RTS game which doesn't require masses of time to enjoy.

Its Ground Control. With datadisk!!!

This game is old, is hard and have good story. You need use tactics to your advantage, units take experience until elite level, have no saving system during mission and you are limited to 12 platoon in three dropships (infantry, tanks, artillery and aircrafts). Datadisk is harder then original game and I like it 😀. Five *****, because this is GROUND CONTROL!!!
