A Truly Excellent Game About Grief
Let's get the obvious out of the way: Gris is visually one of the most beautiful games ever created. But, it's more than just nice to look at. It has an excellent and evocative soundtrack paired by surprisingly great sound design and a wonderful wordless story about grief. The gameplay, while on its own it might not seem incredibly special, paired with its art, feels elegant and graceful and enjoyable. The game is comparably short, only about 3-3.5 hours, but in that way it doesn't tire itself out. It's an enjoyable game not just to play, but to analyze and dissect the art and how it weaves into its themes about grief and losing your voice. While personally I think it might hew a little too rigidly to the tried-and-true 5 stages, that isn't a detractor. It remains one of the best artistic depictions of grief I've ever seen. I would absolutely recommend this game.

Very artistic
An exceptionally good looking piece of art. In this game we control the girl who is obliviously depressed and tries to cope with it. Hints and achievements (5 stages) tell us that she has either lost someone or dying herself. Our final goal is to get her out of the depression, building a star bridge made of good memories and her own talents. That might have been a deep and emotional game... except it isn't. Don't get me wrong, I liked it a lot. But the game is way too naive. Probably, it is hard or even impossible to fit thorough analysis of such a complicated emotional state as loosing someone (bitter grief + guilt + regrets + thought of what is to come next + existential shock, "I am mortal too" + hopelessness + ...) into a platform game. I don't know. Instead of an experience that digs deep into the soul, people who lost someone have a hand on their shoulder saying "Head up, bud. I know what you feel, I'm sorry about your loss. The one you lost would be happy to see you happy, think of how your memories of them helps you", and others get meditative, somewhat sad experience. It's not bad... but it's not great either. Buy this game if you want to play a very beautiful platform quest with good sound design, diverse puzzles, and good story behind. But don't expect more. Totally recommend GRIS.

I don't think so
Please ignore the h@lf-w1ts that say this is a ''relaxing'' game. This is anything but. I give 2 stars for the visual and audio aspect of the game as well as for the symbolism throughout. Believe me i'm going through actual grief in my life and honestly...i don't want to add extra. Solving puzzles is not my idea of working through issues. The puzzles are not light. They are regular puzzles. And platforming. Plus you have to go look for the keyboard controls because the game assumes you have an xbox controller idk. Don't believe the romantics around here. It's not worth the trouble. Last time i'm buying a game for this reason. Refunded.
