Grim Legends 3: The Dark City

I played on Arch Linux on an old laptop with Intel graphics and had no issues with the game. No crashes, no deleted profiles, runs beautifully. It seems the issues num18 and others experienced no longer apply. The game play is very similar to other Artifex Mundi games. If you played enough other games, you can expect what needs to be done when seeing certain screens, but this didn't reduce the fun for me. Puzzles are polished and well integrated into the story. There are some new variations on puzzles (e.g. explore and interact with items from multiple perspectives). It feels like there are fewer hidden object scenes in relation to other puzzles and mini games compared to earlier Artifex Mundi titles. I enjoyed the story. The setting is interesting, reveals in the plot were surprising to me and I was looking forward to what's next. There were no damsels or children in distress which are taken away from you every time you make progress and are meant to act as motivation. There were no animals bolted on for some puzzles and seemingly only included because they were cute. That's the last of Artifex Mundi hidden object games available on GOG I've played and my favourite. Very much recommended if you enjoy hidden object / puzzle games and a good start for adventure gamers curious about this kind of game.

The graphics in the game are very beautiful. The game was entertaining, some puzzles were weird and irritating but overall impression is good. The storyline was not bad but other Artifex Mundis games had better plot

In linux mint 18.3 the game crashes frequently during cutscenes; at one cutscene (first maskwraith encounter) it crashed and deleted the profile. Deleting savegames and profiles is the ultimate taboo. One star it is. It is a shame because the previous two installments of the grim series did not have this problem.

Like Grim Legends 2, this game is addictive for some people. Visually attractive. Invites thoughtful consideration. Has levels of difficulty and hints. Reasonable puzzles, mostly, with option to bypass. This game earns its way through smart choices the designers consistently make. They know their target audience well. It's an easy game to rate.
