Terribly Unbalanced Hack and Slash

Have over 1,000 hrs in game and its current state is woefully unbalanced and not welcoming to newer players, particularly in Normal mode. Starting is easy, but when you're further into the game(lvl 35-40) expect to die a lot since bosses often one-shot you in NORMAL mode. Game's loot tables/storage is big issue due to needing to farm gear for all characters for different boss battles. Resistances are stressed too much imo. End game content is one thing, but when you're leveling/equipping a character for first time, a group of skeleton archers will drop a caster in a matter of seconds if you don't have high enough armor AND piercing resistance. So you manage to get those resistances? Guess what? Your damage will be lower than a snake's butt or other important stats will approach depth of whale poop and some other mob will hit you with aether, poison, etc. Debuffs, DoT, etc., teeny weeny tiny icons that show up on bottom right side of the bar are useless. Are we suppose to pause game in the middle of a big fight just to have a chance to scroll over and see what it is before it disappears? Nobody wants to be jumping back & forth between game and desktop to look stuff up online when it comes to fighting bosses & some common trash. This is just lazy game designing that results in a bigger learning curve because you have to go on a website outside of the game and try to figure out what you're getting dirt napped with. This game had a lot of promise and wasn't bad until they added "Evade" and made the overall entry into game too difficult in the 4th quarter of 2023. The helpful Life Leech was nerfed, too. Only recommend buying when its on sale at steep discount to see if you tolerate it. They do have expansion coming out in 2024, so there's plenty of time for them to break game balance even more. Too many fanboys that "piano-play" characters in the game 24/7 nonstop complained that it was too easy for them, so Crate caved into them and went crazy buffing the mobs.

I find it very dull

There's nothing incredible or outstanding about it. In fact it's rather annoying. My biggest annoyance with it is the path to progress the adventure. You have to go in circles to find what you look for, pay attention to the star on the map so you won't miss the mission objective and then have to endure some special blight on the ground that removes percentage of your health. That last mechanic really killed the fun for me. Overall the game is a very generic action RPG, get a beating stick and kill monsters. Which is what I wanted, but the previous points I mentioned killed the joy entirely. On top of the annoying terrain, there's also blockade you need to blow up with dynamite and to find dynamite you need to search in certain areas. Not sure how far I am in the game in terms of total progress, but at this point i just want it to end and see how the story ends. Playing this on Linux, it works fine, but be warned it crashes for no reason after about an 1 hour or so of play and I honestly don't feel like tweaking it to make it run natively, as that's the developer's job, not mine. If you intend to tweak it a bit to make it run flawlessly it will work fine for you for sure.

Bad value

I have played this game a few times, even getting fairly far with it, but it is really not satisfying. - the combat is really messy but not in a good way (hard to see what is going on) - the game is not intuitive - the developer does not listen to the fan feedback; forget any quality of life improvements - mods that exist are often outdated or do not work, which is a problem because there are some atrocious design decisions that need to be modded out of the game, yet learning to mod this would take WAY too much time and the game would still be... mediocre Buying this game for 22+ Euros a while ago still stands as the worst game purchase of my life. Stay away. If this was <5 Euro then maybe... maybe

Dissapointment

I really would have liked to play the game fully to it's end. But i unfortunate had to ask for a refund. The game is unbalanced in my opinion. Reaching level 3 in just 5 minutes of game play. Also right mouse button can't be designated for an other function. I use the right button normally in all games to look around and swirl the camera, not the middle button as it is prefixed in the game. I'm a grown man, with normal size hands. Not baby hands.

An undernourished copy of the king

This game possibly has the most toxic community among all the others. For them, everything in Grim Dawn is perfect and wonderful, and when someone criticizes something in the game, the brainwashed army comes to attack you. However, reality is very different from the fantasy world in which these people live. Playing Grim Dawn and having previously played Diablo 3, you notice the many similarities that are certainly not mere coincidence. The scenarios have similar themes and names, as do the enemies, but they don't have the same creativity. Everything seems lifeless and uninspired, typical of a copy. Even the bad things about Diablo 3 were copied, such as the very low drop rate, which forces you to play for many hours to get a just reasonable item and the irritating choice of dropping items from another class that are almost always better than those of your class, another very irritating thing from Diablo 3 that was brought to this game. But Diablo 3 gave you motivation to play with other classes, which is not the case with Grim Dawn, which most people who give it 5 stars here won't even finish the game, much less play it again. I lowered one star from my previous review because "Definitive Edition" deceives you, is a trickster's trick and pure trickery. Other DLCs were released after I bought it. Anyway, if you've never played Diablo 3 you might even enjoy this piece of junk, which isn't that bad, but it's waaaaaay away from the quality and polish of Diablo 3. There's no problem with that, because each game has its own characteristics, but saying that this game is better than Diablo 3 can only be a joke and in very bad taste.
