The Best ARPG Since Diablo 2
Just as the title says, imho this is the golden pinnacle of current modern day isometric ARPGs. I haven't tried them all (completely skipped Diablo 4 and I haven't yet tried Last Epoch), but whenever I feel the need to scratch that Diablo 2 itch, I go back to Grim Dawn. There's just something so damn satisfying about this game. It's not incredibly hardcore, you can reach the endgame without zealously following a guide, yet it does provide enough challenge at higher difficulties not to be boring. As many other people, I too have originally bounced off of this game, only to come back to it years later and finally discovering its magic. Seeing your character coming together with all the skills and different procs and buffs, experimenting with them and tweaking the builds to suit your own particular taste, it's just something I haven't found elsewhere. The fact that it's been put together by a group of 7 people who are not trying to milk it for every last drip with endless microtransactions just makes me love this game even more. It also has a great transmog system, with even the less powerful items looking great. It's still supported by the devs, with a new DLC coming soon which will add new maps and yet another mastery (totaling at 10, up from the original 6), and you can mix and match as you see fit. You can play completely offline, or you can play with friends (gotta admit that I've run into some minor bugs during multiplayer). If you're looking for the ultimate offline ARPG experience though, Grim Dawn is easily the one I'd recommend the most.
