Sad end.
I know troubled and rushed development history of this game but I'm not gonna sugarcoat it for the sake of whomever profits off the sales nowadays. No mod can fix fundamental design flaws. Gameplay: It's way worse compared to previous titles in the series. UI looks like it's taken out of an MMO. Combat is floaty, lacks impact and even when you hit something you can never tell because the sword awkwardly moves through the air all the same with no feedback. Hitboxes might also be misaligned. Overall movement is the same. There is no sense of direction or weight to any animation. Climbing is similarly unreliable. World: Gothic 1&2 had small but dense worlds. There was fantastic balance between world design and level design. Areas constantly used verticality to make orienting yourself easy and consistent. And despite that locations still felt somewhat "authentic". This is sadly absent in Gothic 3. There are a lot of eye-catching vistas but is not at the same level. Ton of flat open spaces that are huge for the sake of being huge might look more "realistic" but it's a step down. Writing. Couple retcons really irk me and changed approach to orc faction flips the table in a bad way. Gothic 2 left couple strands for potential key plot-points but those quickly get scratched out, wasted or at best sidelined. Performance. It's inexcusable. The game launched in practically unplayable state which required many fixes through community efforts. Said community did well of course but it will never be experience appropriate for what you get. Music: Is at least stellar. Which is why I would recommend checking it out on youtube. SUMMARY: At release it was piece of junk. By the time community fixed it, it was clear this game will never be what it could have been. There were and still are countless better games out there. Most importantly it marked clear, disappointing downgrade from Gothic 1 and 2.

The game that set up the RPG standards
One of the best RPGs ever ! Is and will always be loved by the community simply because it raised the standards so high. Maybe some of the younger players will say that is not a great game due to graphics, fighting style or what ever reason, but the ones that played the game when it was released will definatly know what I`m talking about.
