Description

Lead the people of the Tribe of the Dawn as they venture deep into forbidden lands. Complete quests that shape their personalities, impact their wellbeing, and decide the fate of their community. Ensure the survival of your populace in a grim fantasy world inspired by Slavic folklore.

Erect palisades, develop structures, and grow your gord from a humble settlement to a formidable fortress. However, expansion won’t be easy! Your population is constantly at risk from enemy tribes, gruesome monsters, and mysterious powers that lurk in the surrounding woods.

The versatile quests in Gord will have you venturing beyond the walls of your settlement, either to prevent calamity from happening or to address a personal matter of one of your subjects. The Scenario’s main objectives will guide your journey, while side quests and random encounters will dispatch you into the wilderness to hunt down legendary creatures, uncover secrets of the Ancients, or vanquish a nasty scourge. Expect the unexpected.

Set the stage by choosing from a wide range of Scenario options, and try to emerge victorious. Take it easy or set an impossible challenge; almost anything can be adjusted! Choose from a variety of primary objectives, select the level size, the intensity of raids, the environment you’ll play in, the types of enemies you’ll face, starting resources, and even the severity of weather. Of course, don’t forget the Horrors.

A healthy populace is the key to survival in Gord. Every aspect of your settlers’ lives - from illness, to hunger, to the death of their kin - can impact each subject’s Sanity levels. Keep a close eye on them, as once a subjects sanity reaches a critical point, they will suffer a breakdown or even flee your rule.

Please the Gods with your prayers and they may give you access to their spellcasting abilities. Incantations vary in nature - some are offensive while others are defensive - but they all help to tip the battlefield in your favor. Conceal areas from your enemies, gain control over threatening beasts, or turn an unholy rage against all who dare to oppose you.

The Chronicle explains the history of the Gord universe that blends real-world Slavic mythology with dark fantasy. Pages torn from The Chronicle will be scattered throughout the game’s landscapes, giving dedicated players an additional challenge of discovery. Collecting as many pages as possible will provide insight into the origins of the Gods, ancient factions, and the mystical Whisperers.

Very atmospheric, lacks a little depth

The game definitely feels very climatic, the lore is awesome and the ambience is great. It's basically dripping with Slavic folk. The campaign is definitely worth a playthrough, and while the story is nothing groundbreaking, it is nice enough. However, the gameplay is a bit repetitive, you don't really do things very differently between quests. Also, difficulty is too focused on combat, which is (understandably) not the most developed system. In general, it's definitely worth a playthrough of the campaign, but lacks replay value beyond that.

Gorgeous visuals, terrible gameplay!

On the visual side of things - the game is absolutely gorgeous. You have the feling of being in this dark, soacked place, where everything is out to get you. I love it. However - when it comes to gameplay - the game is simply ridiqulous. Managing your gord is duffiqult, when your subjects are fighting every moster they come across, instead of just running away. Oh and - when you issue a command to a subject to go somewhere, he will most deffinetly fight anything that stands in their path. Now that's dedication. And a dead worker. You have to remember to always coubleclick to make them panic-run, so they don't fight things on their way. Most often than not - you have to babysit every single one of your subjects - managing their health, sanity and work. What an absolute drag. This isn't fun. It's a chore. EThe gameplay overall feels sluggish and overcomplicated. The developers were trying to reinvent the wheel, instead of going for simplicity and functionality. These, and more reasons are why I give one star rating. I would give zero, but the visuals, art-style and voice-acting are next level. What a damn waste!

Great mix of RTS/Survival/City Builder

Gameplay and story are great so far (5 missions in). The only sad part is that my dudes die from old age eventually. I get it though, it is semi realistic. (SPOILERS) There is a part where you might have to sacrifice a child to a giant demon monster thing. It was kinda funny and sad at the same time.

Poorly Planned

As much as I like atmosphere and general story, this clearly wasn't thought out or properly bug tested. Sometimes, my people get stuck in the ground and can't move anywhere. They're stuck like that forever. People just up and die after a while. I found out this is an 'old age' variable somewhere. If you take the same six people with you through enough campaign levels, they just fall over dead, leaving you without people. Extending the palisade is a total crapshoot. Half the time, it seems to get stuck and I have to exit and reenter the construction screen. I have no idea why it thinks there's a pond in the walls, because the map detail is so poor, I can't tell. Other times, it complains about wall lengths and angles. It's way too picky. Placing an outpost is nigh-impossible, simply due to the cluttered map. I suspect there's maybe five places on any given map an outpost will fit and you gotta just keep messing around until it works. The horrors are obviously not designed to be attacked. The wooden-tree guy killed eight people in about the time it took you to read this sentence. Oh, and for the giggles, town wall ballista can't hit the horrors for some unknown reason, nor can they be magically attacked. Why even make it an option? The developers CLEARLY didn't want this to happen, so why do it? Non-combat stuff, can Bob, the Iron Miner, PLEASE stop running into crocodiles? He keeps coming back half-dead and just goes out there again. I tell him to stay in town, but no, Bob's gonna get this deathwish on. I had an axeman eaten alive by giant spiders while six of his friends watched with popcorn, completely within archery range. No idea. Sanity loss snowballs on itself. One guy dies in a fight and everybody gets scared then flees the town. I lost a couple scout groups that way. It happened so fast, I couldn't get them back to town. Anyway, great atmosphere, but also stuffed to the brim with annoyances that could be easily fixed.
