Good action adventure
The game looks quite pretty, the storyline is fine, and it's nice when you go by boat, to get small tales of the nordic pantheon as something to do while you move between places. The combat has some heft to it. It is still a case of spamming your attacks, especially when you go up against tough enemies, but also requires you to be ready to dodge, parry or interrupt enemy attacks, unless you want a bad time. All in all, a great action adventure brought a bit down by the game drawing a bit out forcing you to go back and forth over the same ground a few times. Gear is nice but is on the verge of tedium trying to determine if you want to change, and if it actually really makes that much difference. The side-encounters provide a high degree of challenge if you're not levelled up properly, to the point of feeling unfair at times, when an enemy can 2-hit you from full health, and has an attack which you might not even be able to avoid, it becomes a case of hoping the enemy doesn't press the "I win" button. All in all, a nice looking fairly well playing action adventure, marred by the mandatory gear score system, slightly repetetive side-activities and combat which may or may not yield something great at the end.

I don't know why people like this game
This game is just the worst of AAA gaming - unskippable cutscenes, every 5 minutes; handholding; constantly taking the controls away from you. It takes hours to wade through the unskippable tutorial. And the graphics may have been awe inspiring when it first came out, I dunno, but today it just feels like Midjourney, overdone, scifi meets fantasy tryhard. I stuck with it for 10 hours, and never felt like I was playing the game - its one of the few games that gives me visceral negative feelings when I think of ever playing it again. It seems most other reviews are raving about the story, voice acting etc - well, they should have just made a movie - because this was not a fun game to play.

Great game
Shouldn't have waited this long to play this game... looks fantastic and runs great, even at 32:9 (hex edited, since flawless widescreen does not seem to work with this version). Story has been interesting so far and the combat, although somewhat challenging, is fun and I am excited to see where it goes. The challenge is nothing like souls games, but at least it keeps you on your toes.

Do you want a game to play?
I've tried playing this several times, but the devs put telling a story above giving you a game. I really don't like games that don't respect your time. I'm also not interested in drawn out battle sequences, like fighting an enemy, wearing him down .. sit and watch some story ... and his life meter is refilled, rinse and repeat. Everytime I think of picking it up again, I remember I have to sit through all the cutscenes without being able to skip. It is also a very dated formula with restrictive paths. Looks nice and runs well on moderate hardware, but just feels so dated.
