If you enjoy SCP, the concept was shallow but fun. Towards the end the game changed into something pretty different. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. The ending, though, let me deeply annoyed and unsatisfied. No real sense of closure. The tone shift and ending would have made the game a no-buy but the initial stages were interesting enough to carry it.
I'm more annoyed that we had a good game with a great concept that was made less than it could have been.
I really enjoyed the story and the puzzles of this game, but it all fell a bit apart for me with the ending. Now be aware, the endring continues after the credits. So when the credits start, don't just quit the game. Wait til they finish and then get the full ending.
Even having watched the full ending though, they just didn't do a good enough job of finishing the story. I feel like zero questiones were answered. It almost feels like they ran out of time.
I really enjoyed the first half of the game, sure it's full of jank, but you're working in an SCP facility and it's full of mystery. There were also several SCPs to be found -- I don't know if they were original, but I enjoyed reading them. The second half of the game takes place outside and virtually every aspect of it is tedious and annoying. The bathroom maze can eat my whole butt.
I was going to give it 3 stars, but the ending was so bad I removed one. Get it on deep sale.
I decided to try this game on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised at the production value and performance for this game. I thought some character writing seemed a bit gimmicky and in some cases shallow and weak (mainly with side characters), but it didn't effect the overall experience too harshly. I think the stealth was pretty weak, but the puzzles were fairly decent. The part that really made the game for me was the driving segment. I won't get into huge details, but the feel of the car and the narrative beats and sequences just clicked superbly, it had me very excited the whole way through. Also, I think the SCP aspect to the game held back a lot of narrative excellence for the core of the story. Anyways I've forgotten how to write with any structure, so in closing: If you have 2-4 hours to spend and want something pretty decent, give this game a shot.
