Put your sword to the test in Ghostrunner Demo here

Ghostrunner is a hardcore FPP slasher packed with lightning-fast action, set in a grim, cyberpunk megastructure. Climb Dharma Tower, humanity’s last shelter, after a world-ending cataclysm. Make your way up from the bottom to the top, confront the tyrannical Keymaster, and take your revenge.

The streets of this tower city are full of violence. Mara the Keymaster rules with an iron fist and little regard for human life.

As resources diminish, the strong prey on the weak and chaos threatens to consume what little order remains. The decisive last stand is coming. A final attempt to set things right before mankind goes over the edge of extinction.

As the most advanced blade fighter ever created, you’re always outnumbered but never outclassed. Slice your enemies with a monomolecular katana, dodge bullets with your superhuman reflexes, and employ a variety of specialized techniques to
prevail.

One-hit one-kill mechanics make combat fast and intense. Use your superior mobility (and frequent checkpoints!) to engage in a never-ending dance with death fearlessly.

Ghostrunner offers a unique single-player experience: fast-paced, violent combat, and an original setting that blends science fiction with post-apocalyptic themes. It tells the story of a world that has already ended and its inhabitants who fight to survive.

Reflexes over flow, movement sucks

I enjoyed it for what it was. the difficulty is nice, its a easy to learn, hard to master type of game. But ultimatively I had enough. Like metal gear rising revengeance, you need to do some brutal millisecond accurate reflect and avoid gunshots combat that annoys me to no end. Issue being, after 4 hrs even with the slower enemy bulletspeed perk and all perkconfigurations played around with, I never got a flow that consistently made me better in the game with reflecting and actually mastering the combatsurvival. I´m too old for this and i don´t drink energy drinks, i regularly die from missing 50 ms reaction time windows to reflect a projectile. like in multiplayer games call of duty, R6, its always this oh, my brain took a few ms too long to click and i have to retry or die. and I don´t care anymore. I finally have to accept that twitch gameplay is a nogo for me from here on out in my life in every game. The reflect animation like modern games have it nowadays, is bound to a somewhat fast but not fast enough arm animation and I can´t handle it, I need it instant. no animation allowed or else my muscle reflexes get confused. i finished 50% of the game and while i found the trial and error combat puzzles kind of boring at first, I grew to love them, only did I not anticipate how bad the movement is. The slowmo timedash is always just forward and backwards even when you hold A or D, most airsteering is done by mouse, since A and D buttons become useless. a constant one directional flow that often fails in connecting between platformrunning. you play very slowly movementwise but have to be lightning fast with the mouse and reaction times. it creates this giant disconnection of flow for me which i grew to hate about this game. most of the time you might struggle to wallrun in some sections since you couldnt control movement midair as well as in other games. It breaks the pacing and flow. Story is servicable. Characters seem motivated. No level variety though.

Amazing but Incredibly Frustrating

So I just beat this game but this not for casual players in the least. I'm not and I typically consider myself pretty damn good with Souls games and others that are considered hard. But this game was insanely difficult. To the point it made no sense at all. I know it sounds like the kind of whining where I'd typically say 'git gud' but this game really made no sense with its basic mechanics. Wall running in particular seems to be determined by a random number generator on whether or not it will work. Several of the enemy types consistently seem to be able to melee you through walls and that's when they're not popping through them. Seems like navmesh issues maybe? The dash ability also doesn't seem to consistently work as intended for going in any particular direction. I don't begrudge souls games because the rules are the same and the basic mechanics are the same. Same thing with games like hotline Miami. But when a game gives you basic abilities the controls should work consistently. Understand I had to git gud like you wouldn't believe but there were so many times that it seemed more determined by a random number generator on whether I was able to get through the platforming sections. Took all sense of accomplishment away when it seemed more due to luck than skill that I got through those sections. Nevertheless this games absolutely nailed down the aesthetics both visually and sound-wise. Amazing soundtrack and great lighting effects if you've got the CPU and RTX combo to handle it. The enemies are smart and require speed and aggression from multiple directions to really nail down and the abilities you unlock throughout the game come in very handy. Ultimately this is a game I would only recommend to people who are very stubborn and are gluttons for abuse that refuse to quit.

Unplayable if you have a life

No saves mid-level makes you start from the very beginning if you quit the game. There are checkpoint within the level but they only work within a play sessions. To bad I don't have garantied 45-60 minutes that I can spare for a game, most of the time it's 10-15 minute sessions that are not enough to complete the level and this frustrates as hell. And it's not a bug but intentional feature by game developers.

Could have been a good game...

But the few last level are so awful i would have prefered to never touch that thing. -Kamikaze enemies in a melee/speed-run focused game... Youhou, i can choose to play defensively and abuse power or to avaoid them by doing some stupid move abusing the ai... really awesome -a boring final boss (but to be fair, it could be worse) -an awful final level with an huge difficulty spike, making it an infernal die and retry treadmill, and killing any impression of speed (or fun). it's sad considering that before that, the game was so fun... Also, it's super short (6 hours), and the replay value isn't good, because of those bad last level, but also thanks to some pretty but boring the second time exposition level/ tutoriels/ light puzzle.. Could have been a good game... but it's not. If you want a Cyberpunk slasher, check out Ruiner, and if you want a fast paced wall running carnage... Titanfall2.

Amazing game with one fatal flaw

Ghostrunner is a fun little action game centered around one big mechanics: one hit kills. You will die in one hit, but so will all the enemies. You're constantly outnumbered, but you have so many tools at your disposal that the enemies will be kind of outmatched if you're playing right. The game itself says it best. It's tough, but fair. It plays a lot like a fast paced, melee version of Superhot. However there is one big issue. Boss fights. There are 4 total (this isn't a long game) and every single one of them is terrible. Not only does it completely break up the lightning fast pacing of the game, but as you can imagine it's not fun fighting something with a health bar when you die in one hit. The boss fights completely go against the whole point of the game, and not only that, none of them are fun to fight.
