Resonant Story Elevates This Game

(Note: I got this game on giveaway on Amazon Prime) You wake up on a strange planet, and you have no memory of who you are, but you're in a kick ass suit of high tech armor, and one of your hands is a gun. And thus begins another metroidvania adventure. And this one is done competently enough. The exploration is good, the combat not so much. The art is okay, it goes for a Fantastic Planet/Moebius kind of vibe, and the animation is very paper dollesque, but it's serviceable. But as I said in the title, what really elevates this game is the story, or rather all the characters you interact with. You're stuck on a planet that seems to have a weird static field around it causing a whole lot of space travellers to crash here, and you encounter one group and your mission becomes salvaging parts from other wrecks to try and get their ship working again, so the can escape the planet. And yeah, all the talking you do with the survivors is rather well done (except there are a lot of long pauses that you can't really speed through, and drag a bit) and what makes this game stand out. Yeah, this game does have some flaws, but they're relatively minor and forgivable on the whole. I didn't find any of the combat terribly difficult, but I did die a few times, the fast travel system still leaves a lot of places hard to reach, you move a bit slow, a lot of baddies are a bit bullet spongy, and money collection is a bit slow, but these are all small gripes. I strongly recommend this game if you're looking for a B-tier metrodvania.

Good game, yet so close to greatness.

This is my initial feeling right after I finished the game. First off, it leaves a melancholy aftertaste based off the story. Now, the mechanics themselves were great. I had no problems with any of my input and never felt frustrated because the buttons never worked or the enemies were BS. This game reminds of Metroid Fusion when it comes to the movements and shooting style. The bosses weren’t that bad, especially when you get the dash. There was a variety of them and the boss battles felt fair. Pretty much two phases, but melted into one. Only weird caveat was that the bosses/mini bosses felt random. I walk into a random hallway and boss is there. Well, ok, here we go, we fightin now. It felt like there wasn’t a big boss for every main objective you go to. Also, quite a bit of backtracking because the game didn’t point in any direction of which objective to complete first because some places requires you to have a certain weapon to break certain walls. However, you don’t know that. You pretty much have to backtrack and hopefully run into the right things. Now, as for the story. Immediately, when I started up this game, I felt this story was going to be sad. It gave this atmospheric feel of sorrowfulness, but with a sliver of hope. Not going to go into details because Spoilers, but you get the idea. I liked the story because you, as the player, are an unknown entity. You don’t why nor how you got there, but you are there. You wake up with no recollection of who you are and as the story progresses, you find others who are trying to get off the planet which then becomes your main objective. The lore and background story hints at who you might be, but is never concrete until the very end. In conclusion, the story actually wraps up.... Well, depends on the player. However, I would give this a solid 4.6/5. The story has enough depth, albeit a little confusing at times, but the gameplay itself was solid and worked fluidly.

Game is really good

Excellent atmosphere and a world that is just a blast to explore. Combat can be a lil underwhelming and enemies are a lil bullet spongey but the fantastic world design and interesting characters make up for it.
