NOTE: THIS MINI GAME IS 1 BOSS FIGHT.
10 to 30 minutes fight, more with Furier difficulty or to get a S rank!
Defeat The Chain to escape your jail. Fight Furi’s first guardian in an ultra-fast-paced and nervous battle, in a reinvented side-scrolling mix of shoot'em up and hack'n slash. Be agile and quick, jump, shoot, dash, parry and slash. The simple controls will test your nerves: stay calm and focus to evade the blows and counter-attack at the right time!
A love letter to 8-bit games: we love retro games and wanted this demake to feel authentic! It's the Furi experience, agile and intense, reimagined in retro style. The simple controls with only three action buttons, the old-school pixel art and the catchy music from ODD will bring you back to the 90's!
A gift to Furi's community: We reimagined Furi's first boss fight as a way to thank players for their ongoing support. If this is your first time hearing about Furi, head to Furi’s page and check it out.
A collaboration with Sylph: We were impressed with Sylph's work as a solo dev and asked him to create this demake of Furi's first boss fight. Check out his other games!
I am not a fan of Furi, not because I dont like it, but simply because I have never played it - I cannot tell you how accurate this is to the main game, but I'm not sure it matters, This demake is free, Its has simple controls, an increasingly complex boss battle, and can be beaten in just a few minues on standard difficulty. The biggest complaint I have is that the screen moves too much, Considering the size of the arena, I feel like a less active camera would help in the bullethell moments, but perhaps this was tested and decided against. That said theres no reason not to give it a try and I'd like to see more like this
This game is extremly hard for unexperienced players like me but after like 15mins you are gonna get the hang of it and do it without losing any extra lifes also it will feel very good after finishing the game
In adapting *Furi*'s first boss fight from a 3D-action battle to a 2D one, Sylph and The Game Bakers trade its original philosophical focus, which explores whether ruthlessness is justice, for a simplified scenario that gets straight to the point of killing the main character's first captor. Killing him still entails engaging with hack-and-slash and bullet-hell phases of the fight, albeit this time around they flow together smoothly, rather than cleanly splitting into separate segments. This increased dynamism comes at the cost of visual clarity and responsiveness no longer having a consistent presence, causing mental fatigue and unfair in-game damage, respectively. *Furi Demake - The Chain* would be a passionate, decent reimagining of the opening from a favorite piece of art of mine if that were the end of its problems. Sadly, it's not.
The Game Bakers, who are also the publishers of this game, announced on 05/07 of this year that *Furi Demake - The Chain* would become a paid title after being free since 11/30/2023. They stated that this decision was made to increase its then-limited discoverability as a free title, gauge the amount of interest in it, and then, hopefully, help Sylph develop more boss battles*. I sympathize with a small studio wanting to bring attention to their game in a way that skirts Steam's crappy policies. Nonetheless, making it a priced title after so long is an uncharacteristically capitalistic choice when taking into account that its predecessor had, for example, a piece of paid DLC called *One More Fight* that was eventually made free for all players. *The Chain* could have been managed just as fairly by being made into a demo for a paid version of *Furi Demake*. Instead, it's now a tainted adaptation of a more reputable experience's introduction.
*The Game Bakers' announcement regarding *Furi Demake - The Chain*'s change in price can be found on Steam, an announncement that, I should warn, **has a GIF with flashing lights**.
Its an awesome demake that requires strategy so you can't just button mash to get through it but i hate how many phases thr boss has it gets tedious making up stategeis per phase even with all of that its still a nice expirecene that i would recommend it feels good to finally beat the boss after all that time cracking at it it's incredibly rewarding.
This is just excreta! Free sure, but still excreta!
Try "apple bobbing" in your toilet next time you have a shit. That's free too, and every bit as entertaining as this dumb piss-take of a game.
