About the game
They took your freedom. It's time to take it back!
Freedom Fighters is an intense third-person action game set in an alternate history New York during the invasion of a foreign superpower. Take on the role of Chris Stone, a hard-working plumber, and rise through the ranks of the resistance to prove yourself as a charismatic leader.
Liberate supplies, scavenge weapons and use the 'recruit and command' system to grow the resistance and lead up to 12 freedom fighters into strategic conflicts throughout the campaign. Travel across the city and complete interconnected missions where your actions in one level affect the battles in another.
Originally released in 2003, IO Interactive's cult classic is now available digitally in its original form for the first time.
About the soundtrack
The Freedom Fighters Soundtrack features 18 tracks that are produced by acclaimed music composer Jesper Kyd. Combining live choir performances by the Hungarian Radio Choir with techno beats and other electronic instruments, Kyd effortlessly captures the vibe of the game and the epic quest to liberate New York from a foreign superpower.

First off, I've never played this game before. So I'm not in any way influenced by nostalgia.
In order to enjoy this game, one has to be OK with console flaws (savegame system) and GTA 3D-era-like combat. It's like that but what really makes this game interesting is the fact that you can control an increasing number of soldiers, up to 12 I believe. Nothing fancy there, no tactical screen or anything, but you can to some degree give individual soldiers commands. AI works quite well here.
What is apparently missing in this version is the multiplayer, both coop and PvP which was the part of the game many say they loved most back in the day.
been looking for this game forever, havinng played it back in the days of the og xbox and or the life of me couldn;t find it anywhere. and now i see it on Gog and its almost a remaster with how crisp and shiny it is. im so happy to once again be able to play this title i didn't even flinch at the $14.99 price tag as anything remaster on console would probably be twice that price.
so , for those who aren;t familiar, this is an alternate history type of game with the soviets having pretty much won the cold war and invaded America, you play as a regular Joe Blow plumber whose brother has ben taken prisoner and and now you 're caught up in a resistance effort and given command of a squad of freedom fighters with the intention of taking back your homeland. You can issue basic commands and try different approaches to the various combat scenarios youll encounter but one word of warning; the game is short. Like very very short, Ive decided this time around that i would extend the longevity of this ganme by playing on a higher difficulty and it defintely does make it difficult however this also forces you to play more tactically which for me is perfect. Others may find playing this on the default difficulty the way to go but once again, it's a short game but it does leave a lasting impression so i say judge for yourself which difficulty level suits you best. Whichever difficulty you choose you won;t ever forget this game,
Great game.
i remember spending alot of time on this game on gamecube, when i saw it on GoG i must have been a little too quick on the purchase, since i didnt notice that there is no controller support and the multiplayer seems to have been removed.
which to me is a downgrade, most of the time i spend on this game on gamecube was on multiplayer, not including that in the windows version have to cost a star, not having controller support is yet another star.
would have been full rate if it wasnt for the things that got removed for the windows port of the game, since the game is amazing.
As back in the day, I still enjoy playing this and on PC it's better than any console counterpart. Supports 4k at 60+fps.
Only issue I have is a few garbled textures.
Game looks amazing with Radeon Image Sharpening enabled.
Game installed on an SSD with zero issues on Win10 v1909. Game launches and plays normally at maximum settings with a local monitor of resolution of 1920x1080 The mouse is very slow in the menus. Mouse sensitivity can be altered, however it also applies to the in-game mouse speed, and as such, you will need to adjust it to find what works for you.
Game uses an autosave. I encountered no saving or loading issues.
Top notch release, and I consider it money very well spent.
