About the game
They took your freedom. It's time to take it back!
Freedom Fighters is an intense third-person action game set in an alternate history New York during the invasion of a foreign superpower. Take on the role of Chris Stone, a hard-working plumber, and rise through the ranks of the resistance to prove yourself as a charismatic leader.
Liberate supplies, scavenge weapons and use the 'recruit and command' system to grow the resistance and lead up to 12 freedom fighters into strategic conflicts throughout the campaign. Travel across the city and complete interconnected missions where your actions in one level affect the battles in another.
Originally released in 2003, IO Interactive's cult classic is now available digitally in its original form for the first time.
About the soundtrack
The Freedom Fighters Soundtrack features 18 tracks that are produced by acclaimed music composer Jesper Kyd. Combining live choir performances by the Hungarian Radio Choir with techno beats and other electronic instruments, Kyd effortlessly captures the vibe of the game and the epic quest to liberate New York from a foreign superpower.

Basically a simple but also interesting tactical third person shooter. The plot is neat and serviceable and the gameplay is fluent. This is the type of game which you play for that simple pure rise of adrenaline after a work day. Which is a rather rare game design philosophy these days.
This game stands surprisingly solid against the test of time.
Story is simple, the character design is cartoonish and they are written like a straight to DVD movie from that era, but damn it feels good.
It's once again a PS2 cult classic that has finally gotten a steam release. it is gorgeous.
The soundtrack and presentation really helps this game. the gameplay is not the best in the world, but everything surrounded is in such a high caliber that you cannot stop playing.
The story is bare bones, but it is Holden up by the soundtrack and all the small details that changes throughout the game like, the main characters clothes, and how many tents and weapons there are in the hideout. It gives the game enough charm so the story doesn't matter as much.
Plus it feels like a very dumb 80s movie and it's awesome.
I played the game on freedom fighter difficulty and it was fun, but it's such a different experience from normal difficulty. A normal you can basically play as 80s action movie and have a mindless blast. but on freedom fighter you have to use the squat mechanics as much as possible, They are supposed to take bullet damage and give it, you give the orders.
Nice and short experience that doesn't stay out It's welcome. It kind of funny how this game about American freedom is made by some Danish people in Copenhagen but that just makes it more fun. will recommend.
I remember playing this in the early '00s. Graphics are pretty simple given its vintage. Gameplay is quite fun, squad-based order-giving, tactical, shoot 'em up.
