Giant, but BUGs need to be fixed

Played the keyboard and the smile the game works very well for me, on Linux Mint 20. Turn-based battles, a fantasy heroic universe, a funny story, original music, and innovative mechanics. Possibility between three game modes: campaign, skirmish and local cooperation. The numerous management and combat mechanics, guarantee a great replayability to the game. For the regulars of the genre the mechanics are known, but a tip, do the tutorial entirely, it is not long! Enlarge the village, choose a skill, the evolutions you choose will make the game different. Use the grappling hook to send a rock (at 100%) on a well hidden enemy (at 27%). Used the Mage to exchange his position with an enemy by teleportation, and return to the team with the Winged Boots. It will take a little experience to know and fully enjoy "Fort Triumph" which will prove to be excellent. A little more effort to fix some BUGs: broken SDL implementations, key location. CookieByte and a nice team, I trust them to make the corrections. ;-) A 4 stars game for the moment and soon perfect, a very good game, I recommend it!

Fantastic little gem

Played through the whole campaign. Story was great, interesting characters, and fun throughout with lots of jokes. After the campaign, I still have three skirmish missions to do and there is always endless HOMM style random maps. Still have a lot of skills that I never picked up in the first playthrough that I could get some use out of. Still lots to do after 20 hours of the campaign.

Great game but small scope

Vaguely like Heroes of Might and Magic, you start with a base, recruit heroes and form parties, and send them around the map uncovering the fog of war, defeat neutral mobs to get the loot they were protecting, capture resource generating tiles, defeat the parties of the other players, and ultimately capture their bases until you've wiped them all out. There are 3 modes: campaign, skirmish, and local co-op. Skirmish is merely a specific type of co-op where the other players are all AI. Combat plays out in grid-based environments, which are quite colourful and pleasing to look at, though each of the 4 classes only has palette-shifted models depending on which of the 4 factions you play. Skill trees are NOT shown in advance; upon leveling up a unit may choose from 3 randomly rolled skills - even cross-class ones. This helps makes each unit feel more unique, especially since they also come with random traits. Gameplay-wise this is one of the more flexible ones when it comes to physics; paladins and barbarians have an innate kick skill, which you can use to smash rocks into enemy units or even topple trees onto them. This means hiding behind cover can be a double-edged sword, because the AI will also occasionally do this to you too. The ranger and mage also have push/pull type skills to use on the environment. However... it is a very short game. There is only 1 map size, and you can likely blitz through a skirmish in one session. The campaign is basically 3 maps glued back-to-back (1 of each environment type), though to be fair the characters are entertaining and the pacing brisk. Base building is shallow, collect enough resources and build stuff that grants bonuses, same with the guild purchases. Not many choices, doesn't take long to max. Turning off permadeath means you can re-buy dead heroes, otherwise you buy level 1s. I would love to see this engine being used in a full-fledged tactics RPG. This feels more like a board game, it's great but get it on sale.

Short but good

As others have said, the game is fairly short (I finished it in 15 hours by absolutely bashing every nook and cranny) but at that price point it is not really a problem. The music/SFX are really good, graphics are quite serviceable and reminiscent of Torchlight. Devs polished the experience up to a point where I did not see any bug, and one can feel the dedication that went into crafting the physics system. What a blast ! Do not expect too much strategy, the AI never surprised me and a player that grinds even a bit can steamroll through even the final boss (permastun anyone ?).

Environment is your best weapon

PROS: It's different from usual turn based tactical where you run into enemy and start hack n slash. Boulder is your best weapon, and how you utilize them to stun every enemies is really satisfying. CONS: Campaign is too short. Would be better if they would add more stories and maps. Characters had same design but differs only in color.
